A newsworthy segment took place on WWE Friday Night SmackDown that saw Raw Women’s Champion Asuka be given a new championship belt while Charlotte Flair returned to confront her.
On the show, Asuka was given the new title belt after beating Bianca Belair to win the WWE Raw Women’s Championship at WWE Night of Champions. This snapped Belair’s year-long reign after they had been feuding over a championship that belonged to Raw while they were SmackDown talent.
The celebration didn’t last long as Flair made her return by walking down to the ring. After being confronted by “The Queen,” Asuka watched Adam Pearce ask her what she wanted. She said that she doesn’t wait in line because she made it and wants a title shot.
Asuka accepted the challenge before trying to hit Flair with some mist, but Flair ducked out of the way. This marked Flair’s first appearance on WWE programming since losing the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Rhea Ripley at WWE WrestleMania 39.
Flair took time off after this show, something she told the company she would be doing before the April event. Before SmackDown, it was reported that Flair was on her way to the show, but is slated to film an upcoming movie. She previously returned from hiatus on December 30th to win the SmackDown Women's Title.
