Braun Strowman will be out for the foreseeable future after undergoing neck fusion surgery this month.

Strowman returned to WWE in September of last year, over a year after his release from the promotion in June 2021. Since returning, Strowman has (unsuccessfully) challenged for the Intercontinental Championship, and has forged a tag team with Ricochet.

Last month, Strowman missed some in-ring time due to a concussion, and recently underwent neck fusion surgery. The surgery was on the C-4 and C-5 vertebrae in his neck and spinal column. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Strowman is expected to be out of action for "just over one year" following the surgery. This time window means Strowman will miss all upcoming Premium Live Events, including Summerslam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and WrestleMania 40. With this time frame and depending on when WWE desires to bring him back, Strowman could miss Summerslam 2024 as well.

The Monster Among Men isn't the only Superstar out with a severe injury. Fans haven't seen Randy Orton on WWE programming since May of last year due to his back injury. While WWE had been hopeful that Orton would be back in time to challenge Roman Reigns at Summerslam 2022, that didn't transpire and Reigns instead faced Brock Lesnar. Last month, Orton's father 'Cowboy' Bob Orton said that the multiple-time World Champion has been advised by experts to not return to wrestling even when he is fully healed.
