Fans haven’t seen Drew McIntyre wrestle in a while, although that could be changing in the near future based on a new report.

Reports leading up to WrestleMania indicated that McIntyre and WWE were far apart in contract negotiations, and it was revealed that he will become a free agent in late 2023/early 2024, depending on how much time they add to his deal for time missed.

McIntyre hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 39 in a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Title with Gunther and Sheamus due to him dealing with an injury. He has since healed up, but creative issues have held up his television return.

While speaking with The Scottish Sun, The Undertaker recently praised McIntyre by noting that he doesn’t think McIntyre has reached his full potential.

WWE returns with its next PLE for Money in the Bank on July 1st from the O2 Arena in London. WWE previously pulled McIntyre from the Money in the Bank advertisements and replaced him with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Pwinsider Elite reports there has been a push within WWE creative to have McIntyre back into the storyline mix by Money in the Bank weekend” as he is one of the company’s top European stars.

The report added that WWE had meetings with pitches made for his return last week. He was sent to Raw as part of this year’s Draft after spending the last few years on SmackDown.
