WWE has announced the return of Payback, a premium live event that we haven't seen in several years.

On Friday, the company sent in word that WWE Payback heads to the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA during Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, September 2.

Tickets for WWE Payback go on sale Tuesday, June 27 at 10 a.m. ET at Ticketmaster.com.

Nick Khan recently stated that WWE intends to run more PLEs during holiday weekends. AEW typically runs its All Out PPV during Labor Day weekend, so fans have another big destination weekend to mark on their calendars.

Payback was first introduced as a pay-per-view event in 2013. It was held annually until 2017, then took a hiatus until 2020, the most recent installment. This September will mark the 7th WWE Payback event.

In an interesting bit of trivia, WWE Payback 2020 was the event that saw Roman Reigns capture the WWE Universal Championship. Reigns held that title until just recently, when it was retired in favor of the new Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
