Tommaso Ciampa has made his in-ring return and did so in a notable way.
In the opening segment of the show, Ciampa interrupted a promo by The Miz by walking out to the ring as Miz had issued an open challenge and punched The Miz in the face.
He beat him down at ringside as the bell rang and sent him through part of the announce table. This led to a back-and-forth match until Ciampa went over with his finisher.
Last October, Ciampa had undergone surgery to repair a torn hip labrum. The WWE star hadn’t wrestled since a WWE live event on Sept. 17 and had been absent from Monday Night Raw for the weeks leading up to the surgery after being paired with The Miz.
To write him off television, Johnny Gargano mentioned Ciampa was dealing with an injury during a backstage promo with The Miz.
There had been reports that Ciampa was getting closer to making his return to in-ring action and was expected to be medically cleared next month. He was spotted in Cleveland, Ohio, ahead of Monday Night Raw, although he had been backstage at recent Raw events.
As previously reported, WWE plans to reunite Ciampa with Gargano as DIY and also be part of The Way with Candice LeRae, Dexter Lumis, and Indi Hartwell.
