Roman Reigns' historic reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has reached another milestone as of this week.

Reigns' incredible tenure with the title began in August 2020, one week after his return to programming, by capturing the Universal Championship. The Head of the Table would unify that championship with the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 with a victory over Brock Lesnar. Last month, Reigns surpassed 1,000 days as champion, and was more recently presented with a new championship title.

Reigns' historic title reign has seen the Tribal Chief reach multiple milestones and accolades, and now he has another to add to his collection. This week, Reigns surpassed 1,027 days as WWE Universal Champion, surpassing Pedro Morales' reign from February 1971 to December 1973. This makes Reigns current reign the fifth-longest World Championship reign in history. The four above Reigns is Bruno Sammartino's second reign (1,237 days) Hulk Hogan's first reign (1,474 days) Bob Backlund's first reign (2,135 days) and Sammartino's first reign (2,803 days.)

Surpassing Morales is just the latest milestone for the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Earlier this month, Reigns' individual record as WWE Champion surpassed CM Punk's 434-day reign that lasted from Survivor Series 2011 to Royal Rumble 2013. Reigns has also become the first World Champion in WWE history to defend a title at three consecutive WrestleManias, all under the same reign. The Bloodline leader retained against Edge and Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 37, against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38, and against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.
