John Cena's desire to bring WrestleMania to London has gotten the attention of UK government officials.

Cena made a surprise appearance on Saturday's Money in the Bak PLE, where he announced his effort to the sold out crowd at London's O2 arena. According to the BBC, a group of MP's (Members of Parliament) are on board.

Alex Davies-Jones, co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), says everybody was shocked by Cena initiative.

"It was utterly incredible and got the whole place buzzing with excitement about the possibilities of what that could mean for wrestling fans, but also for the UK economy and also for future fans as well," she said.

WrestleMania brings tens of millions of dollars to the host city's local economy. The event brings such an economic boon that cities will 'bid' for the right to host WWE's biggest shows of the year. The bids often include tax breaks and other benefits.

Davies-Jones says she'd love for WWE to bring WrestleMania to London and her group is already discussing ways they can make this dream a reality.

"Whatever we can do to make the UK attractive to host wrestling on the world stage we are more than happy to help facilitate," she says. "We would use our contact and negotiating skills to try and reach out to WWE, making conversations happen to try and promote the UK as a premier destination for world-class wrestling."

Next year's WrestleMania 40 is scheduled to take place from Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field on Apr 6 and 7, 2024. WWE has yet to confirm where WrestleMania 41 will take place, but fans are hopeful London will see a WrestleMania some time in the next five years.
