WWE could be changing how they present upcoming episodes of programming inside Madison Square Garden to accommodate more fans.

Last week's SmackDown saw WWE return to the World's Most Famous Arena, which for decades served as WWE's stomping ground. Given the history of the arena, WWE put on a star-studded show which included the trial of Roman Reigns and the in-ring return of Edge. The WWE Hall of Famer returned to action to defeat Grayson Waller, who made his SmackDown in-ring debut in the Garden.

In the closing moments of the show (which also saw a U.S. Title match), Jey Uso challenged Roman Reigns to an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match at Summerslam.

SmackDown inside Madison Square Garden proved to be a hit with fans, with the show breaking the record for the highest gate for an MSG-WWE event, and the highest revenue for a domestic episode of the blue band.

The latest episode also generated a near-sell-out crowd, with over 13,500 tickets sold according to WrestleTix.

Andrew Zarian of the Wrestling Observer reports that the success of this show could lead to changes for future events in the iconic venue. WWE is looking into the possibility of minimizing the stage at future MSG events, in order to maximize the seating capacity in the venue. Zarian added that this will depend on early ticket sales for upcoming shows.

It is not known when the next televised episode of WWE programming in Madison Square Garden will be, though WWE traditionally hosts an untelevised event in MSG every December 26.
