Andy Kaufman is a WWE Hall of Famer and will now receive a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame as well. Variety is reporting that Kaufman will receive his star posthumously on August 24.

Kaufman is known for his comedic performance work. He famously worked as a pro wrestler -- often working against women. Kaufman declared himself the Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World and offered women $1,000 if they beat him in the ring. Eventually Kaufman feuded with multiple-time world champion Jerry Lawler.
Kaufman and Lawler wrestled one another and during the match Kaufman broke his neck. Kaufman appeared in neck braces after the match and the two collided on Late Night With David Letterman in 1982. The famous encounter featured an attack by Lawler, which later was revealed as a pre-planned fight between both men.

Kaufman was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Jimmy Hart during WrestleMania 39 weekend in Los Angeles. Kaufman's brother, sister, niece, and daughter accepted the Hall of Famer award on his behalf.
Other inductees into Hall of Fame Class of 2023 included Rey Mysterio, Stacy Keibler, and The Great Muta. The annual Warrior Award was given posthumously to former WWE referee, Tim White.
Kaufman died of lung cancer in 1984.
