The two have been at odds since the April 10, Raw, where Stratus and Lynch lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships in a match where Stratus had replaced Lita. Post-match, Stratus attacked The Man, turning heel for the first time since 2005. At WWE Night of Champions, Stratus got the win thanks to the interference of Zoey Stark.
At WWE SummerSlam, Stratus and Lynch were scheduled to face off, but their match was later postponed.
