The card for next week's NXT Heatwave 2023 special episode saw two huge matches added during this week's show.
NXT Heatwave 2023 will take place on August 22, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The show will be the second Heatwave event under the NXT banner and the ninth event overall if you include the ECW Heatwave events.
During this week's WWE NXT, Wes Lee and Dijak faced off to determine the next challenger to NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. Lee would win the match, albeit thanks to an assist from Eddy Thorpe who proved to be a distraction for Dijak at ringside. Post-match, Hayes vowed to prove his doubters wrong by winning the title at Heatwave.

This week's NXT also saw NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio appear alongside WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley. The two called out Lyra Valkyria and Dragon Lee, who The Judgment Day members have had issues with in recent weeks. The segment ended with a mixed tag-team match being confirmed for Heatwave.
