Does WWE have a greater 'buzz' today than during the acclaimed Attitude Era? Brian Gewirtz certainly believes so.

WWE has certainly been performing well over the past year, with the company boasting record-breaking quarterly success. WWE events are also shattering records, with Money in the Bank and SummerSlam both reaching new milestones. Tickets for WrestleMania 40 went on sale last week and within hours shattered the all-time WWE gate record.

Before leaving the wrestling world to be a part of Dwayne Johnson's 'Seven Bucks Productions,' Gewirtz spent years with WWE and reached the heights of being the promotion's Head Writer. Speaking with The Masked Man Show, Gewirtz pointed at three factors that have contributed to WWE's success as "better than anything in the Attitude Era."

"[The first] one, obviously, the money it's bringing in [through] rights deals to television shows it benefitted from the fact that even though viewing is just so much more segmented now, ... WWE, like most live sports, is a show that you need to watch live."

Gewirtz added that WWE now has a 'respectability' with advertisers and audiences now, which has helped generate a buzz that surpasses the Attitude Era. The former WWE writer said that the product has become "safe" for parents to watch with their children which wasn't the case in previous eras.

Gewirtz's third reason for WWE having a greater buzz now than in the Attitude Era is the company's embracing of the 'women's revolution' which has led to a ton of success.

"It's not even comparable to the way it was treated and presented in the Attitude Era... the mindset at the time was the audience does not want to see the women in a cage match... that mindset has been a complete 180 now."

Other factors that have led to WWE's recent success, according to Gewirtz, include the company showing "patience" with WWE storylines. The long-term storytelling of Roman Reigns and his role as Tribal Chief has often earned praise from fans and those in the industry alike.

WWE's merchandise sales recently reached a new all-time high.
