Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa are set to ignite the big screen as they team up for the action-packed buddy comedy, The Wrecking Crew.

According to Deadline, the film is helmed by Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto, and it combines the star power of Momoa and Bautista with the creative vision of Jonathan Tropper, the mind behind the hit series Warrior.

The project has been in the pipeline for some time, with discussions involving Bautista and Momoa underway long before the SAG-AFTRA strike, an industry upheaval that added layers of complexity to ongoing negotiations. Despite these challenges, Tropper's involvement was solidified prior to the WGA strike, with his script ready for submission.

While details of the plot are not known, but it’s reported that Bautista and Momoa pitched the concept to MGM. The pitch garnered significant attention, resulting in a competitive bidding war during the fall of 2021. Producer Jeffrey Fierson, who has previously collaborated with Momoa on the Netflix/Discovery Canada series Frontier, will be at the helm of this venture.

Bautista has been a cinematic force this year. He is already familiar to fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his portrayal of Drax the Destroyer. His appearances for this year include M. Night Shyamalan's Knock at the Cabin and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He also participated in Brittany Snow's directorial debut Parachute. Bautista will also be starring in Dune: Part Two, which is set to release on November 3.
