Its viewership is up from the previous week(680,000 views), but the demographic stays the same for the second week. The last episode that did better in the rating was the Aug. 9 episode of WWE NXT, with a 0.23 rating(P18-49).
NXT had been building to the WWE NXT Heatwave special for several weeks, with storylines culminating in matches on the Aug. 22 episode. One of the big moments from the episode was NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes defending his title against Wes Lee.
The match was made on the Aug. 16 episode of NXT when Lee defeated Dijak to become the number one contender. Hayes's title defense was also historic, as it was the first time two African-American wrestlers competed in the main event against each other for the NXT Championship.

In the match, both Lee and Hayes put all on the line to try to end the show as champion. One of the big highlights from the matchup was the champion landing his signature Springboard Fadeaway DDT outside the ring on Lee through the commentator's table.
The match's finish came when the challenger missed a Suicide Dive onto Hayes outside the ring and hit his head on the barricade. The champion pleaded with Lee not to get back into the ring for the count-out, but the challenger refused to quit. When Lee returned to the ring, Hayes landed the Top Rope Leg Drop on him to retain the NXT Championship.

After getting pinned, Mysterio could defend his North American Championship against (Dragon)Lee again.
The episode also set up matches for next week, with Tiffany Stratton announcing a Fatal Four Way number one contender match between Gigi Dolin, Roxanne Perez, Kiana James, and Blair Davenport for her title.
The Creed Brothers returned by kidnapping Ava from The Schism(Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler) faction. They challenged Reid and Fowler to a steel cage match on the Aug. 29 episode of WWE NXT if they want to have her back. If the Creed Brothers win, they get reinstated to return to the company.
