Natalya received a lot of praise for helping WWE out of a difficult situation at the Superstar Spectacle.
The September 8, 2023, event saw WWE host its first event in India since 2017 at the G. M. C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. In the show's main event, John Cena and World Heavyweight Champion Seth 'Freakin' Rollins defeated Imperium's Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.
In the days running up to the show, Becky Lynch announced that she would not be able to attend the event due to a tear in her passport. Fightful Select reports that this put WWE in quite a bind, as Lynch had been scheduled to face Zoey Stark at the event.
Natalya had been scheduled to face Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley at the event. At one point, a triple-threat match between the three women was considered. Natalya would then tell management that she would be willing to work twice at the event.
Natalya would defeat Stark in what was promoted to the crowd as a number-one contenders match, despite Natalya Vs. Ripley already being advertised days earlier. Natalya would defeat Stark before coming up short against Ripley later in the show.
WWE higher-ups who spoke to Fightful praised Natalya for stepping up and helping out, with one stating that it showed leadership from the former SmackDown Women's Champion and helped them out of a bind.
