LA Knight was forced to miss appearing on last night's SmackDown following a positive test for COVID-19.

This week's SmackDown saw WWE continue to build toward its Fastlane Premium Live Event, which will take place on October 10. The show saw WWE Women's Champion IYO SKY retain against Asuka in arguably SKY's biggest match of her title reign. SmackDown also saw the LWO's Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar defeat Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins, earning the Street Profits a tongue-lashing from Bobby Lashley for their troubles.

Fightful reports that Knight originally was scheduled to be in the main event contract signing segment, which saw John Cena, Solo Sikoa, and Jimmy Uso confirm a match for WWE Fastlane. Knight was also slated to compete in a dark match after SmackDown went off the air.

Knight was pulled from SmackDown due to a positive COVID-19 test and had to leave the building just before SmackDown began. Fightful made it clear that this was a medical change and not a call made by Vince McMahon

With Knight off of SmackDown, AJ Styles filled most of his role on the show, aligning himself with John Cena against Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. Before the main event segment, however, Styles was attacked backstage, meaning he has not officially been made Cena's partner for the upcoming Premium Live Event. This could mean that Knight will team with Cena at the upcoming event though any decisions will be made with his health in mind.
