Rollins kicked off this week's episode of Raw and discussed his Last Man Standing Match victory against Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Fastlane over the weekend. Rollins said that his back was still broken, but that he would continue to be the fighting champion that the fans love.

McIntyre walked out and confronted Rollins after that. Drew told Rollins that he wanted him to be 100% by the time the wrestle and said then suggested that Crown Jewel be the date for the match, allowing for Rollins to heal up properly. Rollins accepted the match and WWE announced it officially on social media soon after.

After Seth Rollins accepted the match, he was attacked from behind by Damian Priest. McIntyre looked on and did nothing as Dominik Mysterio tried to run to the ring with Priest's Money in the Bank briefcase. At that point, McIntyre stopped Dominik and prevented the cash-in.

Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre previously wrestled for the WWE Championship, but it was in front of zero fans at the beginning of WWE's pandemic era.

Drew McIntyre won the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36. The next PPV event was Backlash and Rollins challenged McIntyre for his newly won championship.

A completely empty arena was the home for that match -- a stark contrast to Rollins vs. McIntyre in 2023. They will collide for the world championship in Saudi Arabia with a stadium full of fans on November 4.
