Randy Orton could be mere weeks away from making his long-awaited return to WWE programming after missing over a year of action.
The former WWE World Champion hasn't competed since May of last year when he and Matt Riddle lost the Raw Tag Team Championships to The Usos. Orton's severe back injury would play a factor in WWE's decision to unify the Raw & SmackDown Tag Team Championships as they wanted the gold quickly off of RK-Bro.

While WWE hoped that Orton would be able to return in time for SummerSlam 2022, that didn't happen and the Viper would undergo back surgery later in the year. While there have been concerns that Orton's career could be over, it now appears that fans will be seeing the master of the RKO very soon.
Orton has been training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando as of late and both he and WWE are targeting a return Survivor Series for a return date, Fightful Select has learned. There's no word on what creative plans WWE has for Orton if he does return in time for the November 25, Premium Live Event.
Orton has quite a history with WWE's November tradition. From 2003 to 2005, Orton was the sole survivor and victor in traditional Survivor Series matches, and he would be the last man eliminated from his team in 2006. Orton has also successfully defended the WWE Championship at Survivor Series on multiple occasions.
