WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley has taken the #1 spot in Pro Wrestling Illustrated's ranking of the top 250 women in wrestling.
PWI began releasing its men's ranking in 1991 and started releasing a ranking of female wrestlers in 2008. Originally the 'PWI Female 50,' this list grew to become the 'PWI Women's 100' in 2018 before becoming the PWI Women's 150 in 2021. This year is the first time that PWI has ranked 250 women.
Ripley recently reached 200 days as WWE's Women's World Champion and now the Australian Superstar has another accolade to her name. Ripley has been ranked #1 for the first time in her career in the latest PWI ranking.
Rhea Ripley has certainly had an impressive 12 months, with her work as part of the Judgment Day making her a regular on TV. In January, Ripley became the first woman to win the Women's Royal Rumble match from the #1 spot, breaking the record for the longest time in the process (1:01:18.) At WrestleMania 39, Ripley captured the SmackDown Women's Championship from Charlotte Flair, which was rechristened the WWE Women's World Championship months later.
The top 10 goes as follows:
WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley (WWE)
Artist of Stardom Champion/Strong Women's Champion Giulia (Stardom/NJPW)
Bianca Belair (WWE)
Jamie Hayter (AEW)
World of Stardom Champion Tam Nakano (Stardom)
ROH Women's World Champion Athena (ROH/AEW)
Deonna Purrazzo (IMPACT Wrestling)
Willow Nightingale (AEW)
Kamille (NWA)
Jordynne Grace (IMPACT Wrestling)
This ranking marks the first time that Ripley has ever appeared in the top 10 of PWI's female rankings. It also marks the first time since 2013 that none of the four-horsewomen (Bayley, Becky Lynch, Mercedes Mone, and Charlotte Flair) have made it into the top 10 of PWI's ranking for women.
