WWE's creative landscape has witnessed significant shifts lately. As the dust settles on these changes, reports have emerged highlighting the loyalty of WWE stars to Triple H, and their preference for a creative environment less influenced by the former chairman.
Dave Meltzer, in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, provided insight into how McMahon's direct involvement impacted the creative direction of WWE. According to Meltzer, while some of McMahon's changes were viewed as positive, they often clashed with the creative team's long-term vision for the product.
The key revelation is that many WWE talents held a distinct preference for an environment where McMahon wasn't directly involved, showcasing their loyalty to Triple H, aka Paul Levesque.
“From those with knowledge of the creative situation, prior to the merger going through and McMahon taking a medical leave, he was making changes in the shows, particularly Raw, fairly regularly. At times they were viewed as positive and at times they were not. But they did get in the way of the long-term vision long-term of the creative team.”
In this era of transition, WWE is undergoing substantial changes. Meltzer added that Endeavor CEO Emanuel Ari envisions utilizing Vince McMahon's worldwide notoriety in a manner that doesn't involve his micro-management of weekly television shows.
“One person close to the situation said that Emanuel has a vision for how he can use the worldwide notoriety of McMahon, and that vision doesn’t include him micro-managing the weekly television shows.”
Endeavor even “knighted” Triple H as the Head of Creative, with Emanual stating that people should be focusing on role that is given to them. In this case, McMahon’s role did not have much to do with being in charge of WWE’s creative.
Sources backstage said that things have been more “relaxed” and now there is a a wide open roster of talent that can be utilized.
