Only a select few behind the scenes at WWE NXT know who attacked Trick Williams during last week's show.
The October 17, episode of WWE NXT saw Williams added to the show's triple-threat match that would determine NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov's next challenger. The decision to add Williams was made by Cody Rhodes in his final act as NXT GM the prior week. During the show, Williams was attacked by a mysterious assailant backstage.

As a result of the attack, Williams was taken out of the main event. Carmelo Hayes defeated Dijak and Baron Corbin to earn a title match. The pair will face off at NXT Halloween Havoc: Night Two on October 31.
There's been no word from WWE as to who attacked Williams, and the vast majority of those with the gold brand have no idea either, BodySlam reports. Sources indicated that WWE "is looking to keep the attacker’s identity close to the vest." Very few people working in WWE NXT are "in the know" about who attacked Williams or the direction of this storyline.
There has been plenty of speculation as to who attacked Trick and their reasons why. On Twitter, Hayes made it clear he wants justice for his friend.

While Hayes wants justice, it's impossible to deny that Melo benefitted the most from Trick being attacked and being taken out of the number one contender match. Dijak has denied that he was the one to attack Trick but wishes he had had the idea.
