Becky Lynch's reign as NXT Women's Champion came to an end at the hands of Lyra Valkyria at NXT Halloween Havoc: Night One.

WWE NXT Halloween Havoc began this week with Shotzi & Scarlett serving as the hosts of the evening. The show saw Lexis King make his successful WWE debut with a win over Dante Chen, while Chase U captured the NXT Tag Team Championships from the Family.

Before the Valkyria-Lynch match got started, fans at the Performance Center received quite a surprise as Jade Cargill appeared and watched the match closely.

In the main event of NXT Halloween Havoc: Night One, Valkyria constantly had Lynch's number, with the much more established Superstar growing increasingly frustrated as she failed to put the Valkyrie away. When Lynch went for her second Man-Handle Slam of the match, Valkyria flipped it into a surprise stack-up pin to steal the win and earn the championship.

Post-match, Lynch struggled to deal with her emotions but handed the title to Valkyria and hugged her.

This win marks Valkyria's first taste of WWE gold since joining the promotion. She had previously challenged for the vacant title at NXT Battleground in May of this year but lost to Tiffany Stratton. Lynch's reign comes to an end at 42 days, giving her one of the shortest reigns as NXT Women's Champion in history. The only reigns shorter are Indi Hartwell's brief run with the gold (31 days) and Valkyria's ongoing title reign that has just begun.

Halloween Havoc will continue next week with Night Two, which will fall on Halloween night itself.
