WWE received a hefty site fee for WWE Royal Rumble 2024.

As previously announced, Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, will host WWE Royal Rumble 2024 on January 24.

Per Mark Parker of the Catalyst, Jason Latimer, a public relations director Visit St. Pete-Clearwater, stated that the organization $500,000 of its tourist development tax funding to successfully bid for the right to host Royal Rumble 2024. The funds were accrued from overnight stays at country hotels.

Additionally, Brian Lowack, CEO of VSPC, highlighted the economic benefits of hosting Royal Rumble 2024.

“The exposure and marketing benefits, and the visitation we’re going to get from this, are astronomical,” Lowack said. “We can take those monies that we collect from those visitors in their overnight stays and reinvest them in capital projects here, which will increase visitation.”

Lowack also stated that tourism taxes could help fund “beach renourishments and a new ballpark for the Tampa Bay Rays.”

The article noted that the Greater Orlando Sports Commission had allocated $850,000 for its bid. They would have hosted the event at Camping World Stadium. Orange Country Leaders projected a $28 million economic impact from the show.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics highlighted past site fees WWE has received. He noted that WWE Backlash garnered WWE $1.5 million from the Puerto Rico tourism board, as well as $300,000 value towards the venue.

For WWE Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Thurston wrote that the Welsh government implied they paid roughly $2.8 million.

Plus, the government in Saudi Arabia pays $100 million for two events each year, as Thurston highlighted.
