WWE is all about continuing to embrace the brand's growing global identity.
The company has long been accustomed to traveling overseas, but in 2023 they've really began to make a concerted effort in showcasing their PLEs on an international platform.
In 2023, Puerto Rico played host to WWE Backlash, London was the city to present Money In The Bank this year and Elimination Chamber 2024 is going "down under" in Australia. Now, just this Wednesday morning, the company made the announcement that Berlin, Germany would be the featured city hosting a PLE special, Bash In Berlin, next August. But, that's not all.
A new report from Fightful Select confirmed WWE is heavily discussing plans to play in Paris, France next year. While no specific event is confirmed, WWE Backlash is listed on some internal schedules.
The crowd reception that the international events are getting have been extremely positive with the aforementioned PLEs getting some of the company's loudest pops of the year, most notably was indeed Backlash from Puerto Rico as the crowd wasn't just hot for the featured fight of Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest, but the whole card as well.
WWE will hit it's next international show in early November with the second Saudi Arabia PLE of 2023, Crown Jewel. The card per usual is stacked as Roman Reigns will defend his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship against LA Knight, Cody Rhodes takes on Damian Priest and Logan Paul will challenge Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship.
