SummerSlam 2024 could see the WWE Universe flock to Cleveland, Ohio for the promotion's annual Premium Live Event.
Considered one of WWE's 'Big 5' alongside WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank, SummerSlam is considered WWE's second-biggest event, behind WrestleMania. SummerSlam 2023 saw Roman Reigns retain his status as Tribal Chief & his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Jey Uso, after interference by Jimmy Uso.
The 37th annual 'Biggest Party of the Summer' could take place in Cleveland, Ohio, Fightful Select has learned. One WWE source said that they have heard the event will likely be coming to C-Town, but there are questions about where exactly the show would take place. One option is Cleveland Browns Stadium, which has a current capacity of 67,341. Progressive Field is another option for WWE and has a capacity of 34,830. The report adds that Cleveland is being considered a "front runner" and "likely location for the Premium Live Event.
Cleveland is no stranger when it comes to hosting WWE Premium Live Events, having hosted Summerslam 1996. In October 1999, Cleveland hosted No Merch 1999, remembered for the iconic tag-team ladder match between the Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian.
In 2001, the one-off InVasion event took place in Cleveland, and ended with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin joining the villainous Alliance. Survivor Series 2004 would also happen in Cleveland, as did Unforgiven 2008. TLC 2014 would also happen in Cleveland, as did WWE's Fastlane Premium Live Event in 2016 and 2019.
