WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio underwent successful knee surgery this week.
Mysterio announced on Instagram that Dr. Jeffrey Dugas out of Birmingham, Alabama conducted the procedure. Mysterio says 'payback on Santos Escobar is on the horizon!'
His comment plays off Escobar's surprise attack that took place on last week's November 10 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. The LWO member snapped after Carlito blamed him for Mysterio losing the United States Championship to Logan Paul earlier this month at WWE Crown Jewel. Escobar was enraged by the claim and professed his love for Mysterio as he delivered the beatdown.
“I love you, you were my hero, you made me do this.”
Mysterio did not provide a timeframe for his eventual return, but this latest operation will keep him out of the ring through the remainder of 2023.
