After a year off from WWE TV, R-Truth returned at WWE Survivor Series on November 25. He appeared during a backstage segment involving Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) and Alpha Academy (Chad Gable, Maxxine Dupri, Akira Tozawa & Otis).
Truth suffered a torn quadricep injury in a match against Grayson Waller on the November 1, 2022, episode of WWE NXT. The injury had fans wondering if he would wrestle again. The former WWE United States Champion had surgery on November 9, 2022, and looked to be on the road to recovery. However, in January, he revealed that he had to have a second surgery on his torn quad due to an infection.
That last update he gave was to a fan a few weeks ago who asked if he would make a comeback to WWE, to which he said yes. It's unclear if the WWE veteran knew he would appear at WWE Survivor Series.
While R-Truth made the surprise return, it's unclear if he is ready to compete again. He looked in good shape during the backstage segment but wore a knee brace. It's possible he was just at the show to make an appearance and is still not ready to wrestle.
It's also worth noting that he didn't tease a program with anyone during the segment. Although that could be disappointing to fans, the crowd in attendance was happy to see him back.
Time will tell if he is ready to compete again. If he is medically cleared, WWE potentially has a feud with Waller that he can be involved in. The Australian superstar teased on August 9 on Twitter that he had unfinished business with Truth. Truth would likely want a rematch, but it remains to be seen if that is what WWE wants.
Regardless, Truth's return at the show received a great ovation from the crowd and will have fans wondering when he will appear next.
