NXT's Wes Lee will be on the shelf for the foreseeable future after disclosing a serious injury during this week's episode of the gold brand.
On the December 5, 2023, edition of WWE NXT, Lee was seen using a walking aid to get to the ring and disclosed that he is dealing with a back injury. This injury will require surgery and it was later announced that he will be out of action for eight to 12 months. Lee confirmed that this was not the end and that he would be back better and hungrier than ever before.
This announcement brought out NXT North American Champion 'Dirty' Dominik Mysterio, who Lee was set to challenge at this weekend's NXT Deadline event. The Judgment Day member was very pleased about Lee's situation until his father Rey Mysterio appeared on the Titantron. The WWE Hall of Famer announced that Dominik will still defend his title this weekend but it will be against Dragon Lee. The young SmackDown Superstar then appeared and brawled with Dirty Dom.
