Drew McIntyre is still reeling after losing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 on April 7. 'The Scottish Warrior' finally defeated Seth Rollins to win the title in front of a live crowd and his family. However, it was short-lived as he couldn't help taunting fan favorite CM Punk afterward.

What should've been a moment of celebration turned into McIntyre's worst nightmare. Punk would catch the former champion off guard and deliver a beatdown on McIntyre in front of his family. The moment went from bad to worse when Damian Priest cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase to defeat 'The Scottish Warrior for the heavyweight title seconds later.

In an interview with Indianexpress, McIntyre reflected on his mistake and why he was compelled to taunt Punk at WrestleMania 40.

Indianexpress' Aditya Kaushik also transcribed the following quotes.

"...First of all, I can't stand the Money in the Bank briefcase. I understand the point is to cash it in to win the title, but I've lost my last two world titles because of that stupid briefcase. But yeah, WrestleMania wasn't ideal. I said I was going to win the title, I was going to celebrate it with my friends, my family, and my wife, and then I was going to rub the title in CM Punk's face," said McIntyre. He explained, "I can't stand him. We have a history that people just do not know about yet. He hurt me personally and professionally when I was younger."

McIntyre is still waiting to get revenge on Punk, who is recovering from an injury. However, he will have a chance to reclaim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Priest at Clash At The Castle at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, on June 15.

The upcoming match against Priest could be McIntyre's last opportunity to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. He was given the chance because Priest accepted his challenge on the May 13 episode of Monday Night Raw.

In a competitive roster of talent waiting for their moment, Clash At The Castle could be McIntyre's last stand. He is also fully aware of his situation and explained in the interview why he must win in his home country.

"A few dozen of my friends and family are going to be there as the clash is taking place in Scotland. I've missed some of my buddy's weddings and stuff because I've been so focused on this career. This is a chance to get us all together and a chance to celebrate hopefully, and I present the world title and say, I'm sorry, I've been gone chasing this title, and hey, I did it, and know your son, your brother or your uncle, your friend, is the finally World Heavyweight Champion," said McIntyre.

He ended by acknowledging his past mistakes and not taking his upcoming match for granted. McIntyre is seemingly ready to do whatever it takes to become a champion. If he remains focused on Priest, he may get the biggest win of his career in front of his family yet again.
