As WWE and AEW sign athletes to multi-year deals, some years are more active than others in terms of negotiations and free agency. 2024 has already been a significant year for wrestling contracts, and there’s another multi-time world champion who may soon be a free agent.

We’ve covered that Natalya’s WWE contract is expiring soon and this week’s Wrestling Observer says there’s “nothing new” on that front. With her contract close to expiration, she may let the clock run out and field offers from other parties.

The “Queen of Harts” is wrestling royalty as a member of the legendary Hart family who has forged her own Hall of Fame-worthy career. Starting out as a Diva—a term that never fit an athlete of her pedigree—she has done it all in WWE, including starring in Total Divas and serving as a brand ambassador who has performed immeasurable community service worldwide.

Outside the ring, she’s been a reality television star (Total Divas), runs a wrestling school, and writes a weekly column for the Calgary Sun and Edmonton Sun detailing her life and career.

Throughout her 17-year WWE career, she’s won multiple championships and holds several Guinness World Records for her achievements. Most recently, she’s been active on both the main roster and NXT, where she has been mentoring Karmen Petrovich.

Natalya has earned the security to do whatever she chooses at this stage in her career. She could re-sign with WWE, continue wrestling for as long as she wants before getting the Hall of Fame treatment, and transition into a producer/coach role if she chooses.

Should she become a free agent, Natalya will have no shortage of options to consider. Aside from any dream matches she may have outside of WWE, there’s also a certain rival promotion that celebrates her late uncle with an annual tournament. Stay tuned.

I hope she stays with WWE as she would still be a good locker room leader and continue to help the up and coming women.

I still think the Owen Hart Cup is a swipe at WWE by his widow and to make some money.
