The excitement didn't end after this week's episode of WWE SmackDown as fans in attendance saw a brand new champion be crowned.

The June 7, edition of WWE SmackDown saw the roster of the blue brand continue on the road to WWE Clash At The Castle: Scotland. Next week's event will take place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow and will be the first Premium Live Event hosted by WWE in the country.

After this week's WWE SmackDown, the promotion filmed an upcoming episode of WWE Speed. In a title match, Andrade dethroned Ricochet to become the second-ever WWE Speed Champion. Given that this was a title match, the pair were given longer than the typical three-minute limit for WWE Speed matches.

This title change will air at a later date. The most recent episode of WWE Speed saw Andrade defeat Karl Anderson in a tournament match where the winner will earn a shot at the WWE Speed Championship. Andrade will face (and defeat) Tommaso Ciampa in the finals of the tournament after Ciampa advanced with a win over Ludwig Kaiser.

This victory marks Andrade's first title win since returning to WWE as part of the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble match. While it is a big deal to win a title, some will likely have reservations over this. The WWE Speed Championship is not defended on TV and some see it as a glass ceiling for talent who are often overlooked on programming. While it's a big deal for Andrade to become the second-ever WWE Speed Champion, it remains to be seen if this is a sign of things to come or a sign of how high he'll go now he's a WWE Superstar once again.
