Former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista never thought he'd get to be World Heavyweight Champion until he finally won the title in April 2005.

Taking to social media, Bautista shared that he would be gifting the title to JJ Perry as a token of his respect and appreciation to the director of his new film 'The Killer's Game'. Reflecting on winning the title for the first time at WrestleMania 21 in 2005 from Triple H, Bautista admitted that he never thought he'd reached the heights he did.

"This is something that is very personal and near and dear to my heart. The first time I won this title, it was like a dream come true. I earned something that I never in a million years thought that I would be holding."

Bautista would hold the World Heavyweight Championship on four occasions for a collective 503 days, the second most combined days of any champion (behind Triple H.) He would also hold the WWE Championship twice with a brief reign cut short due to injury in 2009 and his final reign as a champion in early 2010.

The Animal's latest film sees Bautista play Joe Flood, a veteran assassin who orders a hit on himself for the life insurance policy after learning he is terminally ill. After it is revealed that this diagnosis was incorrect, Flood must defend himself against several assassins focused on ending his life.

Bautista leads an all-star cast that includes Sir Ben Kingsley (Ghadi, Shutter Island) Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Mirror). The film is set to be released this September.
