Hollywood megastar Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is recovering after suffering an elbow injury during the filming of 'The Smashing Machine.'

Taking to social media, the Final Boss of WWE said that its fitting that the film is called The Smashing Machine as his elbow was smashed up and showed his swollen elbow. Johnson added that there may be some soft tissue damage and that there's a lot of fluid in the area. Johnson plans on getting an MRI to further assess the damage.

The new film is based on Mark Kerr, a former wrestler and MMA fighter who in addition to his fights in the ring, fought personal demons as well. Johnson will play Kerr in the film while his Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt will portray Keers' wife Dawn Staples. The film is being produced by Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions and will be distributed by A24. Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer, Uncut Gems) is directing, writing and co-producing.

It's currently unclear whether this injury will significantly delay the filming of The Smashing Machine and if so, what that means for Johnson's WWE future. The Final Boss has vowed to return and confront Cody Rhodes though when that will be remains to be seen. The Rock won't be doing anything physical with WWE until the filming of The Smashing Machine is complete, and with this injury, it will take longer to finish filming the much-anticipated project. Some have speculated on The Rock appearing at this November's Crown Jewel PLE in Saudi Arabia, though nothing has been confirmed at this time.
