Sexyy Red was arrested the day before she appeared at WWE NXT Battleground, but this isn't expected to have a negative effect on her future plans with the brand.
The popular rap artist appeared at WWE NXT Battleground where she served as the host of the show. After opening the event, Red later appeared following the main event and celebrated with Trick Williams. The NXT Champion bested Ethan Page in the main event of Battleground in what was the AEW alum's first match for the gold brand.
Red was arrested the day before WWE NXT Battleground due to an incident Newark Liberty International Airport. According to police, she and her group got into a fight with another group at one of the terminals. Video footage shows the chaos and while Red swung a weighted stand, she did not make contact with anyone.
Red's arrest is not expected to keep her from making future appearances for WWE and NXT moving forward, Fightful Select reports. Instead, there were plans as of last Sunday for the rapper to appear for the gold brand. With that said, reports of the arrest did take those in NXT by surprise, as they had not been aware of the incident that took place prior to NXT Battleground.
While Sexyy Red's role with WWE NXT isn't expected to be affected by this arrest, this is hardly a good look for the rapper. Another incident like this may leave NXT officials second-guessing their choice to work with the artist, so hopefully, this was a one-off for the NXT Battleground host.
