Following the aftermath of Clash at the Castle, WWE is preparing for their next major event, Money in the Bank, scheduled for Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

During the June 17 episode of WWE RAW, significant developments unfolded ahead of Money in the Bank. The nigh started with the surprise return of Seth Rollins, who immediately found himself booked in a World Heavyweight Championship match against Damian Priest. This match not only marked Rollins' return to championship contention but also kept him out of the MITB ladder match.

Qualifying matches for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match also went down during this week's show, with Jey Uso earning the first spot after triumphing in a triple threat match against Finn Bálor and Rey Mysterio. Similarly, qualifying matches for the women's Money in the Bank ladder match began, resulting in Iyo Sky securing her spot by defeating Kiana James and Zelina Vega in another triple threat match.

Seth Rollins, following his loss of the World Heavyweight Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL Night 2, and subsequent title loss to Damian Priest in a MITB cash-in, returned from injury on June 17 with a clear objective to reclaim the championship.

During his return promo, Priest interrupted Rollins, expressing his intent to respectfully challenge Rollins for the title at Money in the Bank. Rollins reminded Priest of their shared history of winning their first world championships via Money in the Bank cash-in, culminating in Priest challenging Rollins to a title match at the upcoming pay-per-view event. The match was confirmed shortly thereafter.
