Val Venis and Jimmy Hart are in Detroit making the media rounds promoting Wrestlemania 23. Tickets go on sale at the Ford Field box office at 8AM, and 10AM at all Ticket Master locations. Venis and Hart were on WXYT AM radio this morning. Here are the highlights:
- Host Terry Foster asked why wrestling has contributed to a 20% decline in Monday Night Football ratings. Venis said he didn't know that, but wasn't surprised. Hart said it because of the fan base, and that wrestling is not seasonal like football, and puts on shows 52 weeks a year. Hart also said its the longest running male soap opera.
- Foster asked about storylines, and Venis stated that WWE has a creative department that comes up with all the stories. Venis said WWE is a unique product that features storylines, controversy, and athletics all rolled up into one.
- Venis and Hart talked about their injuries over the years, including Venis talking about his recent right elbow surgery.
- Hart appreciated being called "annoying" by Foster.
- They were asked how they broke into the business. Venis talked about being friends with The Missing Link's son. Venis trained on the weekends with the Link during his senior year of high school. Hart talked about his days in the music business until Jerry Lawler asked him to manage "The King" in Memphis.
- Hart calls K-Fed, K-fabe, which gut a chuckle out of Venis.
- Venis talked about being a ladies man, and was asked about his pick up lines.
- Venis said people can expect the energy of Wrestlemania 3 (Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant) at Wrestlemania 23.
- Hart predicted that The Big Show will team with Eric Bischoff against Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania 23.
