WWE News and Notes - 4 Dec

- Rowdy Roddy Piper wrestles with a new foe: cancer. (http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/news/116504618591410.xml&coll=7) Hodgkin's disease - The Hillsboro resident and famous brawler vows to beat the illness.

- Speaking of Piper, his reign as co-WWE tag team champion (with Ric Flair) was scheduled to run past Christmas.

- TV wrestling has nation in headlock (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20865962-2703,00.html)

- Suncoast video is carrying a Kane DVD entitled "Kane - Journey to Hell" which features five matches - vs. Undertaker (Unforgiven 98), vs. Shane McMahon (Unforgiven 03), vs. Matt Hardy (Summerslam 04), vs. HBK (Unforgiven 04), and vs. Edge (Vengeance 05).

- WWE drew a live crowd of 14,400 (paid) for a gate of $931,000 at the 11/26 Survivor Series in Philadelphia.

- Bret Hart's book is slated to be released by Random House in Canada in the fall of 2007.

- Ring of Honor has been in talks with WWE legend Bruno Sammartino to make an appearance in Detroit during Wrestlemania weekend, but the two sides haven't agreed on financial terms.

- John Laurinaitis has a meeting scheduled with Michelle Deighton from "America's Next Top Model." Deighton dates former TNA personality Jonny Fairplay.

- As of this writing, WWE still has only announced two matches for tonight's ECW December to Dismember PPV - the elimination chamber (which I guess they assume will sell this PPV) for the ECW title and the Hardy Boyz vs. MNM. Unconfirmed matches pit Tommy Dreamer vs. Daviri and The Sandman vs. Hardcore Holly. The FBI will likely work a prelim match as well.

- There is talk of Sabu being fired by WWE for recent unprofessional behavior, which would have TNA interested in the former ECW, WWE, and TNA superstar. However, the feeling is that despite his unprofessional conduct, WWE wants Sabu to induct his uncle The Sheik into the hall of fame during Wrestlemania weekend in Detroit.
