29 Dec Smackdown/ECW House Show Results - Evansville, Indiana
I attended the 12/29/06 WWE house show in Evansville, Indiana at Robert Stadium. I arrived late and missed the first two matches, but was told that Benoit defeated Chavo in a US title defense in the opener, followed by Scotty 2 Hotty defeating Sylvan. I arrived to see Boogeyman come to the ring after the match to have some fun with worms and Sylvan.
3) Davaira & Great Kali over Sandman & Tommy Dreamer.
4) CM Punk made Hardcore Holly submit to the anaconda vice. Holly was cheered by most of the crowd, perhaps because he went into the crowd to confront an annoying fan prior to the match starting, causing the fan to run back to his seat. After the match, Holly was high-fiving fans all the way to the rear.
5) Extreme Rules: Van Dam pinned Sabu. Both men were cheered by the fans.
6) Matt Hardy pinned Gregory Helms in a non-title match.
7) Next match started as Kane Vs MVP (with him wrestling with the upper part of his ring attire at his waistline; in order to sell the affects of being burned at the PPV his back was covered with bandages. After a short brawl, Mr. Kennedy entered the fray, and when Kane had them on the run to the back, Undertaker's music was played. Taker made them return to the ring, where it became a tag match without any introductions. Taker pinned Kennedy while Kane pinned MVP with simultaneous pins after tombstone piledrivers.
8) ECW title: Lashley pinned Test after an Oklahoma Stampede.
9) Holiday Bikini Challenge: Ring announcer Justin Roberts declared that Ashley was the winner over Rebecca, Crystal, and Kelly Kelly, even though Kelly received the most fan applause, mainly because she was virtually topless with her tini bikini. After the match was over, Ashley took the mic to announce that it was Roberts' birthday. The four ladies molested Justin for a few minutes, stripping him down to his underwear and one sock. At this point, Big Dick Johnson hit the ring in a thong, spraying water all over Roberts and molesting him more than the divas.
10) Teddy Long appeared and made Roberts leave the ring after this, and did the remaining announcing.
Batista over King Booker w/Sharmel in a cage match for the main event. WWE should really look at how they've booked Evansville. They've had a cage match almost every year this decade. Crowd of about 3-4,000 appeared to be the largest they've drawn in E-Ville in recent years, but I'm not sure if the cage match stip was widely known or the draw.
