The director of what will now be known as Anna Nicole Smith's last film tells TMZ that he is not sure when the film will be released, following Smith's untimely death today.

David Giancola of Edgewood Studios tells TMZ that the film, "Illegal Aliens," was scheduled to be released in April, but now he's not certain when the movie will come out. The movie -- which shut down production when Anna's son, Daniel, died last September -- pokes fun at "her dumb blonde persona," Giancola says, and that everyone involved with the project is in shock.

In addition to starring in the movie alongside Joanie Laurer (aka Chyna), Smith served as a producer on the film. Daniel Smith is also listed as an associate producer.

There were plans for three screenings of the film -- this Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday -- but they have now been cancelled

Anna Nicole Smith's former lawyer, Lenard Leeds, who represented Anna in her highly publicized trial over her late husband J. Howard Marshall's estate, has released exclusive statements about the late star's life.


When TMZ inquired about reports of Anna's drug use, Leeds said, "Anna always had problems with her weight going up and down, and there's no question she used alcohol." Leeds says it's no secret that, "she had a very troubled life" adding Anna had, "so many, many problems."

The former playmate often drew comparisons to another blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe. Leeds said, "She wanted to be like Marilyn her whole life and ironically died in a similar manner." Marilyn died at age 36 in 1962.

During Leeds' years working for Anna, "she embraced all the media attention, but later in life it became her worse enemy."

TMZ has learned that Playboy magazine's top editors are currently in conference with founder Hugh Hefner to determine the best way to commemorate deceased 1993 Playmate of the Year Anna Nicole Smith in the magazine's pages. Smith had been on the cover of Playboy four times between 1992 and 2001.

One challenge to planning any Smith memorial: Lead time. Playboy is, of course, a monthly magazine; the April issue has already gone to press, and the May edition was scheduled to ship imminently.

For now, the only reference to her death is on the Playboy.com editor's blog, where as of 3:56 PM (CST) a tasteful "shoulders and above" black & white shot of Smith, evocative of Marilyn Monroe, carried this message:

"The entire Playboy family is saddened to learn of Anna Nicole Smith's untimely passing this afternoon. Anna was our 1993 Playmate of the Year, and also a wonderful ambassador to our readers. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her friends and family."

Hef, in the meantime, also released a personal statement from the magazine's offices in Los Angeles, describing Smith as "a dear friend who meant a great deal to the Playboy family, and to me personally."

Anna Nicole Smith had a brush with death only a short time before she died yesterday afternoon.

"ET" correspondent Mark Steines told "Today" about a recent event where Anna Nicole Smith was found face down in the pool at her Bahamian residence. Howard K. Stern found her, and her bodyguard pulled her from the water, gave her CPR and "saved her life at that point."

Steines added that when he last met Smith, he believed she was "living a very fragile existence," and Stern told him she was "falling into a deeper and deeper depression" since the death of her son Daniel.

Anna Nicole Smith's attorney, Ron Rale, drew further speculation as to who is the father of Anna's daughter, Dannielynn. In a press conference today, Rale commented on Larry Birkhead's claims that he is the baby's father by saying, "Maybe he is, maybe he isn't." This appears to be the first time that a member of Anna's camp has acknowleded that there is even a slight possibility that Birkhead is Dannielynn's biological father.

While Birkhead has always maintained he is the 5-month old's daddy, Anna listed her lover, Howard K. Stern, as Dannielynn's father on the birth certificate. Earlier today, a California judge refused to order an emergency DNA test of Anna Nicole Smith for the paternity suit.

Prince Frederick von Anhalt, 64, husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, tells the AP that he had a decade-long affair with Anna Nicole Smith and that he might be the father of her 5-month old daughter, Dannielynn.

Prince Frederick von Anhalt tells the Associated Press, "If you go back from September, she wasn't with one of those guys, she was with me." He says he will file a lawsuit if custody of Dannielynn is turned over to Stern or Birkhead.

If Prince von Anhalt is the father, that makes Dannielynn the step great aunt of Paris Hilton!

The 90-year-old Zsa Zsa and von Anhalt have been married for over 20 years, her longest marriage.

The days leading up to Anna Nicole Smith's death were filled with booze, late-night partying and a hotel room stocked with prescription pills.

According to the New York Daily News, a bouncer from the Hard Rock Hotel says Anna Nicole was wasted early Tuesday morning. "She was messed up. She couldn't walk on her own," he says. "Her bouncer was on one side and her lawyer friend on the other."

And just hours before she died she was seen doing shots at the hotel's Central Bar. A bartender says the blonde bombshell looked "plastered" and was slurring her speech. She then moved the party upstairs, where her room looked like a "pharmacist's shop" allegedly stocked with Xanax, Provigil, Fentanyl and Methadone.

TMZ has obtained a photo of the inside of Anna Nicole Smith's refrigerator taken after she died, and the contents are shocking on several levels. TMZ has 100% verified the authenticity of this photo.

The refrigerator, which was inside Anna Nicole's bedroom in the Bahamas, contained methadone (5 mg per 5 ml). The small refrigerator contained cans of Slim-Fast-- ironic, since Smith was TRIMSPA's spokesperson. Several bottles of TRIMSPA sat right next to the fridge.

The fridge also contained Miracle 2000 (marketed as a nutritional supplement for "today's active lifestyle"), French's Worcestershire Sauce, yogurt and spray butter. It also appears there are vials of injectable medicines.

The methadone is compelling, as Smith's son Daniel died from a combination of drugs that included methadone. Law enforcement sources in the Bahamas tell TMZ that at least one witness has come forward and said Howard K. Stern supplied Daniel with methadone just before he died, and flushed the remaining stash down the toilet. That witness is expected to testify next month at the coroner's inquest into Daniel's death.

Now Stern is placed in the same home with another stash of methadone -- the home he shared with Smith.

TMZ has confirmed that law enforcement in the Bahamas is aware of the contents of the refrigerator.

As Anna's estranged mother and Howard K. Stern duke it out in the Bahamas over Dannielynn, rumors continue to swirl about what led to the busty blonde's death.

Despite reports, though, Dr. Joshua Perper, who conducted the autopsy, says he saw no signs that Anna was drinking the day of her death, even though she was spotted in a bar. According to the Miami Herald, although she had an enlarged liver, he says, ''There was no scent of alcohol in her stomach lining, no residue, nothing."

He also says that all the prescription pills in her room were in her name, not Howard K. Stern's, and that she reportedly had a high fever, nausea and was vomiting -- a possible stomach flu. ''You have material here for a number of movies,'' he admits.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the owners of the Hard Rock Hotel continues to fight off the rumors, saying: ''I have heard everything from the FBI being involved in the investigation to Anna Nicole Smith collapsing on the casino floor.'' Neither of which is true, he adds.

Shortly after returning to the Bahamas, Howard K. Stern snatched back Anna Nicole's Bahamas mansion. As previously reported, G. Ben Thompson, who had a brief relationship with Anna Nicole and claims he owns the Bahamas house she'd been living in, had the locks changed right after her death. But less than 24 hours later, AP reports that Stern got onto the grounds and had them changed again -- and then told police that Thompson stole computers and some other personal items.

The list of potential fathers for Anna Nicole Smith's daughter Dannielynn just got one name longer.

One of Smith's former bodyguards, Alexander Denk, tells "EXTRA" that he has just as much a chance of being the dad as Larry Birkhead, Howard K. Stern and Prince Frederic Von Anhalt. "She always told me she wanted to have her kids with me," and Denk added on being the father, "There's always a possibility."

Denk met Smith when he was cast as a chef on her E! reality show, then became her bodyguard for two years. It was a different bodyguard who found Anna in her hotel room the day of her death. Denk says he spoke to Anna as recently as two weeks ago.

Two of Anna Nicole Smith's famous former friends claim they offered to help Smith conquer her demons a few years ago, but she never called them back.

TMZ spoke with the legendary Playboy playmates, Shane and Sia, who claim that one of Anna's many "managers" called and asked them "to do an intervention with Anna. That was our last contact with her, asking in a phone message if she wanted to go to AA with us." However, the plan backfired. "We never heard from her again, so we felt we hurt her feelings and wished we had said it more lovingly in person, instead of on the phone."

The Barbi twins, who met Anna through stylist Daniel DiCriscio in 2000, say they will always remember Anna as "a funny, sweet and refreshingly honest friend."

TMZ has learned that the "Girls of Rick's Cabaret" will blow a goodbye kiss to Anna Nicole Smith on Valentine's Day. At the stroke of midnight, dancers at a dozen strip clubs will dim the lights and join onstage in memory of the former exotic dancer, who died last Thursday at age 39.

It was at Rick's Cabaret in Houston that Anna met her late husband, oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall. "Anna Nicole and Howard Marshall were a fixture," recalls Rick's founder, Robert Watters. "Howard would come in during the day and spend money. He'd have a drink and watch Anna Nicole. She would often dance for him with a friend, and he seemed to get a lot of pleasure out of watching her interact with another dancer."

Bob Glass, regional manager of Rick's, said of Anna "She had a certain quality that is the essence of what we strive for in all of our entertainers. She was energetic, charismatic and an absolutely beautiful woman."

The tribute will take place at Rick's Cabarets in Houston, New York City, Minneapolis, Austin and New Orleans, as well the company's Club Onyx venues in Houston, Charlotte, Austin and South Houston, and XTC Cabarets in Houston, San Antonio and Austin.
