Paul Ellering, former wrestler and manager of the Legion of Doom, suffered a serious eye injury last month while competing in the Iditarod.
Ellering is a veteran of the grueling event, and suffered the injury when he dozed off on the trail during the event. When he woke up, his eye was frozen. Temperatures were in the minus 50 degree range. The eye was treated by a vet who was on the trail, and Ellering's contact lens was removed by a contact lens plunger. The lens had been frozen to the eye.
Ellering had the eye bandaged, and continued with the race.
Doctors now say he is expected to regain most of the vision in the eye.
