Quest for a King
April 14, 2006
The quest for a king begins as Friday Night SmackDown rolls into Green Bay, Wisc., this week.
Last week, General Manager Theodore Long announced the return of the King of the Ring tournament. This week, two former World Heavyweight Champions will collide in the first opening-round match as Kurt Angle takes on Randy Orton. Prior to Orton’s match with Rey Mysterio last week, Angle slapped the Legend Killer after he told Kurt he would help him find the World Heavyweight Championship. Angle is a former King of the Ring, winning the tournament in 2000; will he get back on the winning track and advance in this year’s tournament, or will the Legend Killer take the first step toward the throne?
Plus, JBL was scheduled to throw a huge celebration in honor of his United States Championship victory over Chris Benoit at WrestleMania 22. The celebration has been postponed, however, because the Rabid Wolverine has invoked his rematch clause. Can Benoit avenge his WrestleMania loss and become United States Champion once again?
Also, Friday night saw the debut of a massive newcomer, who came to the ring with Daivari to destroy the Undertaker. Will Daivari reveal any information about this man’s identity?
Tune into SmackDown this Friday night at 8/7 CT on UPN to find out all this and more.
