I dont get it, for moast of us and where this took place it America, we have the right says one of the Amenments(sp) to express our oppion. Now for you guys and gals who dont know he got fired for saying nappy headed hoe or something like that to a black this isnt right ne1 else agree or dissagree. You girls need to suck it up i get called names all the time and i dont go on a rampage for it
FYI: Im not sure if this would be racest if so please tell me and please dont ban me, im just trying to express my oppion and have people hear me out.
This is a form of Abuse, You may find Verbal abuse easy to deal with but others dont and you have really no right or idea what others may go through with this especially those of a minority as we are all individuals. Dont judge others on how you react to a situation, they dont need to suck up by any means, you need to grow up in my opinion.

I have no idea who this guy even is as I live in London but still he was stupid to say that. He knows he has a big radio show that is listened to by many so why say something racist. He has the right to think that the womens team are nappy headed hoes but he could keep it to himself because saying it on the radio is not the smartest thing to do. And wwe you probably do get called names but its not said on the radio for thousands to hear and be offended by which is why it was right he was fired.
Yeah, this is on a much larger scale. A nationally syndicated radio show which was simulcasted on MSNBC, and was broadcasted on CBS is a huge thing. You cannot go off on racial rants on the air like that, look what happened to Rush Limbaugh after his rant on Donovan McNabb, he can't stay out of trouble now. This guy is a jackass, and he had no right to say this. Some station somewhere I bet will give him a job in the future too. It's a shame, people like him should know better especially if your one of the biggest, and most recognizable radio personalities in America.

But my point is is that this happend in America it took a week for ne1 to say something about it, if the stupid news in my area would of kept there mouth shut this would of never happend, But i do under stand that i handle things differently, im jewish (only half) and i get called jeb boy but ne way people need to grow up and let thngs go over his show is popular. IM SICK OF PEOPLE TAKING THINGS SO SERIOUSLY GET THE HELL OVER IT, now this guy made nbc some $$$ and said things like that all the time i think this is going way to far.

So because his show is popular, when he verbally abuses a race people should just simply move on? WTF are you talking about, you really have no clue, no-one should ever take any kind of abuse like this, especially on a national radio show, you simply cant just get over it, the guy who said it should be repremanded atleast for this and you WWE911 really need to grow up as i said before and realise just exactly what your saying, who cares how much money he has made, he fucked up and should be punished.

So what if it happened in America. So you're telling me if some guy went on the most popular american tv channel and started saying all kind of shit about Jewish people it would be fine because it is done in America? If you would not be offended by that what exactly would you be offended by? Also he was not going to be making NBC '$$$' as sponsors were pulling their ads from his shows and there was pressure on the broadcasters to do something about him otherwise they would surely lose listeners.
and said things like that all the time i think this is going way to far.
Can I have a few examples of past things he's said that were as bad as this please
Paul.

Oh dear. It's evident that proper spelling and grammar isn't your strong point. I always like to help out the illiterate, so here goes.
*I don't get it. For most of us, and where this took place in America, we have the right to express our opinion according to one of the amendments. Now for you ladies and gentlemen who do not know what happened, the man was dismissed from his place of work for calling someone ''a nappy headed hoe'' or something to that effect. Does anyone else agree with the gentleman being dismissed from his place of work, as a result of these seemingly racist comments?
You girls need to try and avoid any further confrontation by ignoring these comments. I get called names all the time and do not go on any sort of hate fuelled rampage.
For your information, I am not entirely sure if this is in fact an example of racist behaviour, so please refrain from banning me from the forum. I am just trying to express my opinion, and have people hear me out.
Now, on to the next reply.
*Due to this originally taking place in America, I am of the opinion that it took a week for anyone to comment on the situation, as a result of the location. If the news in my area would have refrained from covering this story, then none of this would have happened. However, I do admit that I handle this sort of situation differently, due to the fact that I am of Jewish descent. I am only half Jewish, but do at time find myself a victim of racial discrimination. I am sometimes reffered to as ''jeb boy'' but I still feel people need to look at things from a different angle. I feel people should let this racism continue, as his show was very popular amongst the radio listening community. I am sick of people taking things so seriously. Please, get over it. As a result, this gentleman has made NBC some money, and feels that situations similar to this are always blown out of proportion.
wwe9112's posts should now be easier to read, for those of you who are not fluent in retard.
Now, I'm not usually one to brand people, but in this case I feel I can make an exception. Both of your posts where rather difficult to translate, as retard isn't my first language, but it would appear to me that you condone what the guy did.
Sure, you can argue that some things are blown out of proportion, but to go ahead and say this case should be overlooked simply because the guy's radio show is popular is just ignorant. The fact is, he made a racist comment, knowing fully the extent to which this could affect certain people within the community. However, he still continued to do so, seemingly without thought or consideration. The bottom line is, he should be punished for what he said as it was plain irresponsible.
If you don't agree then you're just as racist as the radio show host, and should be ashamed that you support him. I suggest that you grow the fuck up, realise the effect that racism can have on people, and concentrate in school. It is apparent that you need all the help you can get.
The moral of the story is: Don't get into arguments, when you don't have a proper grasp on the English language. I bid you good day.

I'm not shore lol the Today Show in an interview said he got in trouble for saying this like that before, and i do know what im talking about i just can get it across. I'll try saying it like this he made NBC tons of money aparently but, but he says something and he gets in a bit of trouble so they fire him. THey took the easy way out. AMERICA needs to grow up imo. I know his show is national or however the hell u spell it. I could care less, black people call us crackers and they dont get in trouble but god forbid if we call them or something(not being racest i have friends that are black im just saying) Carlose Mencia makes fun of blacks mecians, white people and many more, he dont get into trouble, but this guy thats on the radio gets into trouble for calling a team of girls nappy headed hoes. America is turning into a bunch of pussies and im sick of it.
Ill give an exaple from today, I got into an arguement that turned into a fist fight about this, we started argueing then he called me on so i went overthere and hiot him a few good times and he goes off and cries I was hoping he would hit me back so i could grab him by the hair and bust him in the head with my fist lol.
But ill go back to this guy he calls a team of girls u know what and a week later which is 7 days people start crying bout this, which leads to some guy getting fired, and I know you are saying but he has no rights to say this, but as I said b4 look at Mencia, he does Comidy all over MExico the USA and the UK making fun of every1, but its different when someone says it on the radio? Southpark does the samestuff, im sure there is other shows. I dont know maybe im over looking the concept but im expresing my oppion and i cant get punished for it. Im trying to get clearer on this but its hard. The guy was trying to be funny like Mencia, or SOuthpark or maybe some other show, and he gets fired theres my point pretty much.
Sorry for saying the "N" word but I was making a point about how races, saystuff but when a white person says something they get into trouble.
I guess I could get punished but not by my country, i guess i could get ban(please dont) Its just anoying me I fewl like this came acrsed as racest but plpease take my word im nowhere near that. Im dont in this thread if i can help it probbly
^^^ Im not retard paul you can suck it. but thanks for fixing my post now i cant even read it the words are to big lol, you are still new here dont judge me because of my vocab and grammer etc. It might not be easyier for all of us being the words are so big.

Actually WWE, Paul has been around for quite awhile. He just keeps to his own and puts in his two sense when needed, as it was here. You have to understand that Mencia, Dave Chappelle, and such are COMEDIANS! There job is to make people laugh, they make fun of their own race! That is what they get paid to do! South Park is an animated, fictional show! Everyone realizes that! It is known as crude humor, and people love it. This was far from humor, this was his opinion, and he meant it, even though now he will back off his statements just to regain some sort of respect and dignity. Imus went off on an uncensored rant for no good reason. He made himself look like an ass in front of the nation, and now, he is left with no job. Obviously, you seem to be the only one to disagree here, because he wouldn't lose all of his sponsorships, and his J-O-B if it wasn't a big deal.
You cant justify racism simply because you see others doing it, you really need to wise up to the world, it is simply wrong to abuse anyone in anyway, you tell Paul who i have way more respect for and is not new to the forum worlds that he shouldnt judge you, yet you are judging those who stood up against this verbal abuse, grow the fuck up, your just digging a bigger hole for yourself.

WWE did you actually hear him say it. If not I don't know how you can say it was an attempt to be comedic as the tone of voice he used would be the key way to know this.
Also your thing about people complaining 7 days later, I highly doubt this to be true. Action was taken 7 days later but the complaints must have been going from the time he actually made the comment.
America is turning into a bunch of pussies and im sick of it.

You're basing the whole of America turning into pussies on some person you fought with over Don Imus, I think you should come up with a better example for your statement which I also disagree with but that is for another day.
Oh and Paul that was harsh lol because spelling is not his strongest point. We try our best to understand but the translation was very helpful indeed

Research is your friend. If you would have bothered to think before posting, you would have noticed that I've actually been here longer than you. Therefore, your claim that I am new is indeed false. It might be too hard for you to actually think before typing, but at least try from now on. Thanks.
Also, the ''suck it'' comment further solidifies my claim that you have a very limited mental capacity.

This has been a subject I've been following for awhile, actually. I definitely thinking he should have been reprimanded. I wouldn't even had called for his firing if this was just the first offense. I mean, people make mistakes all the time. However, this is something he has a repeated offense with. He has repeatedly made racist and sexist remarks. Here's a bunch of quotes he has said:
"Chest-thumping pimps." (Description of the New York Knicks.)
"William Cohen, the Mandingo deal." (Former Defense Secretary Cohen's wife is African-American.)
"Wasn't in a woodpile, was he?" (Responding to news that former black militant H. Rap Brown, later known as Abdullah Al-Amin, was found hiding in a shed after exchanging gunfire with police. Imus is alluding to the expression "n-word in the woodpile.")
"We all have 12-inch penises." (When asked what he has in common with Nat Turner, Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan, New York Knicks basketball player Latrell Sprewell, and Al Sharpton.)
"A cleaning lady." (Reference to African American journalist Gwen Ifill. Imus has said he did not make that statement.)[
"[n-word] jokes" (What Imus told a 60 Minutes employee that Imus' program producer, Bernard McGuirk had been tapped to do on the radio show, as Imus later admitted saying when confronted by Mike Wallace in a 1997 interview.
From a tape of the 60 Minutes program as it appeared in a transcript of "On the Media", a program on National Public Radio:
MIKE WALLACE: You told Tom ANDERSON, the producer, in your car coming home that Bernard McGuirk is there to do "n-word" jokes.
DON IMUS: Well I've n-- I never use that word.
MIKE WALLACE: Tom?
TOM ANDERSON: I'm right here.
DON IMUS: Did I use that word?
TOM ANDERSON: I recall you using that word.
DON IMUS: Oh, okay, well then I used that word, but I mean-- of course that was an off the record conversation-- [LAUGHTER]
MIKE WALLACE: The hell it was!)
"That's some nappy-headed hos there. I'm gonna tell you that now, man, that's some -- woo. And the girls from Tennessee, they all look cute, you know, so, like -- kinda like -- I don't know." (about the Rutgers University women's basketball team, which had recently played in the national championship finals; the team has eight blacks and two whites)
"Old Kabuki's in a coma and the market's going up. [...] How old is the boy? The battery's running down on that boy." (Referring to Japanese Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi, who died the next week.)
"I remember when I first had [the Blind Boys of Alabama] on a few years ago, how the Jewish management at whatever, whoever we work for, CBS, or whatever it is, were bitching at me about it. [...] I tried to put it in terms that these money-grubbing bastards could understand."
"Boner-nosed … beanie-wearing Jewboy." (Describing Washington Post columnist Howard Kurtz, a frequent guest on Imus in the Morning.)
"The guy from F-Troop, Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell."
"New York Times quota hire." (Referring to African American sports columnist Bill Rhoden)
"Ragheads." (Multiple offenses regarding Arabs and Arab-Americans)
"With that fat ass she’s got, she wouldn’t be one of 'em,' (a beautiful woman). That skank has to spend three hours with makeup in the morning." (Referring to Contessa Brewer, who left his show)
There's actually more shit that's been said on his show, including a, slave-like poem he had said in regards to Maya Angelou:
"[W]ho was that woman you used to do, the poet? ... We used to get in all that trouble every time you'd do her." As McGuirk launched into the impersonation, Imus said, "I don't need any more columns. Come on." But Imus did not stop McGuirk, who delivered his impression in verse:
McGUIRK: Whitey plucked you from the jungle for too many years
Took away your pride, your dignity, and your spears
[...]
McGUIRK: With freedom came new woes
Into whitey's world you was rudely cast
So wake up now and go to work?
You can kiss my big black ass
---------------
The point is, this is a repeated thing. One would think that a person has a right for freedom of speech and freedom of the press and yada yada. But our airwaves are not a vehicle to promote racial and gender bigotry. Imus's show had been a show where politicians and other notable and respected people would go on to talk about real and serious issues. No one tuning into the show to hear what they have to say, should be forced to listen to Imus and his crew being racial and gender insensitive, as well as him playing up to stereotypes and mocking racist.
As said, if this was a first time thing, yeah. A slap on the wrist. But when it's been happening for years, it's about time something has been done.

I don't really think he should have been fired for what he said reprimanded yes but not fired. I have been watching this pretty close since it happened and it has been completely blown out of control for one thing. I have been listening to every black person that has come out of the wood work bashing white people on national TV since this happen so I would have to say that is pretty much the same thing so I want there heads just like they want Don's head on a silver plater. I don't even like Don or listen to him but the TV networks were wrong to fire him. Now he's just going to go work for Howard Stern anyway. lol

If this was the first offense, I would for sure not want him fired. But he is a repeated offender, pretty much using his show as a racist forum. At the very least, he's a bigot. If his show wasn't a, 'serious' show, then yeah, I still might make a case for him not being fired. But this is a show where extinguished people in and of the news come on to talk about 'serious' issues. Why should a Black, White, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, etc. have to sit through the show with him bashing them, while waiting to hear about the 'serious' issues? The airwaves are not a place to be race bashing or for bigotry.

Different kind of show, different circumstances.
That's like Oprah making, "honky" jokes. Or her telling jokes like, "How many White people does it take to screw in a light bulb?" Or even saying something like, "Connie Chung only got a job because she's screwing a money-hungry Jew."
If Oprah was saying shit like that, especially on a repeated basis, I'd say she should be fired too.

I actually think that CBS and MSNBC are racist. I mean, Imus has been making crude remarks about the white race, the hispanic race, Italians, Jews, Europeans, Catholics, Germans, gays, lesbians, ect., and niether CBS nor MSNBC so much as even gave him a warning. All of a sudden he does the same exact thing to the black race, and he's in deep shit?
CBS and MSNBC have been holding Imus to a standard of practice for the past 30 years. And all of a sudden he's crossed the line? He has a major lawsuit there, should he follow through on it.
And seriously, why are black people offended by this? I mean, rappers go on about 'n******s', and calling their chicks 'black hoes' all the time. B.E.T. does it all the time, too. Not too mention the fact that black people can call white people 'whities' and 'crackers', hispanics 'wetbacks', Jews 'kykes', and a bunch more that slipped my mind, but it doesn't work the other way? It's a double standard, and thats wrong.

It's a double standard, and thats wrong.
I'm not even going to comment on anything but this one part. I have an example for you:
If you're with your family, and you're giving each other shit, and making wise cracks and jokes with one another, is it offensive? It could be, but most of the time, the answer is no. But when someone else says it, especially, but not limiting to, when you don't know them nor have done anything wrong to them, would you get angry? The majority of the people would say yes. It'd be offensive, and no one wants to be mocked or mad fun of by people they don't know. It's a form of bullying, and there is no justifying bullying.
And to compare what Imus said (and again, I want to stress this isn't just a first time thing, it's just the first time it's getting this much emphasis) and to rappers, and B.E.T. and all that is just a very narrow-minded thing to say.
Now, as a person from an ethnic background (50% Puerto Rican, 25% White, 25% Black) and raised in an urban environment, I will not say that rappers and the like don't play a major role in some of this stuff. But the point of the matter is, when you listen to rap music, you pretty much know what you're going to get. When you listen to comedians like Chris Rock, you pretty much know what you're going to get. And it also goes back to the whole who you feel comfortable with telling the jokes. Also, I just want to point out that there is a difference between, "ni99a[h]," and, "nigg*r." If a Black person calls another Black person a, "nigg*r," it's equally as offensive. "*ni99a[h]," on the other hand, is a generally accepted greeting in the BLACK and URBAN community. If you aren't Black or, urban, then you saying it isn't acceptable. It just is what it is.
Last thing, though, that I found really pigheaded is that you basically implied that all Black people use degrading and offensive words of other ethnic races, and it's just A-OK. Yeah, dude, that's definitely not the case. As said, if Oprah said the same shit Imus said, but about White people, she would have been off the air in 24 hours. It wouldn't have taken her a week or four days or however long it took. Also, in my experience, and this is coming from a person who lives the urban life, who lived in the projects for a good portion of his childhood, who lived in the ghetto, who still lives in the ghetto in an underprivileged neighborhood, we do NOT go around calling people ethnic slurs. I rarely hear people call others, "Wetbacks," and, "Kykes," and, "Spics," and, "crackas," and, "whities," in this day and age, and if it was said, it'd be equally dealt with.
Then again, when people use those words in that kind of context, they're TRYING to be offensive. It's not words that come up in just everyday conversation. Do I think it's a good thing? No. I personally wouldn't condone it. But I see why they would say that, or why a White person {such as Kramer} would call a Black ******. They're TRYING to be offensive.
Look, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that certain words can not be said by certain people, for it's going to be offensive. There is no reason for a person to say those words, for they know it's going to hurt people.

Thats bullshit, if people want equality between races then crude remarks interrace and outer race should be handled in the same way. If all these people such as Al Sharpton want to get all fucking outraged by comments like the ones Imus made, because they came from a white person they better look at there own fucking race and see how they're own people portray their women and race. Money, hoes, gats, a *****s....those are words originated by black people.
Don't give me that bullshit that when you listen to rap or chris rock its what you expect to hear, but when you listen to Imus to say something like that is so taboo. Why should the color of your skin dictate what you say is wrong, or your profession even. A comedian has more right to be racist than a radio personality? Why? Howard Stern is degrating to women every fucking day on the air and always has been. Imus shouldnt have been fired, he was made example of so the fucking networks could be politically correct and make it seem like they care about the whole situation. Don Imus has been on the air for 40 years and has raised money for good causes, he doesn't deserve to be fired for that comment. Don't give me the whole, its happen before deal. What happened when he said all of those other quotes you posted, regardless of if they are accurate? Nothing happened, not a peep. Now all of a sudden he makes that comment, and not even right away, but days later there is an uproar? Bullshit.

It was derogatory to women, but in no way did it deal with race. You can be a "nappy headed hoe" and be white. All in all he shouldn't have said it, but at the same time I don't think it's worth all the media coverage on it.
Would it have been different if a black man had said it? And if your answer to that is yes, how so?

sorry my bad my computer is screwing up i needed to change my batteries in my keyboard and again I'm sorry.
IMO I think that if a African American had said it it would be different. Because BET and such always say that stuff. But then again its not the radio and they aren't as big companies and Imus is well NBC that is. But I'm probably wrong but thats my point of view.

I don't like Don Imus. Just the fact that he said something like that leads me to believe that he is a racist. I don't like anybody whom is racist, but sadly there are many who still are today. I'm glad he got fired, and maybe next time he opens his mouth he will keep his racial slurs to himself.

Everyone makes racial comments, not everyone is a racist.

I understand what your saying... I shouldn't call everyone a racist that says racist statements. However, there was no reason for him to call the women that. Whether or not he is a racist doesn't change the fact he said something he wasn't supposed to say, and the idiot was stupid enough to say it on the airways! That's why his sorry ass got fired, and everyone else gets away with it. You have to say it around someone who it offends, or it doesn't mean a damn thing.

No one said anything about it til days afterwards, so who did it offend? It seems to me it took a little long dont you think? Guys like Al Sharpton love to jump on this kind of shit.

PLUS!!! What he said TECHNICALLY wasn't even racist, he said nappy headed hos. He didnt say N****R, or C**n, or anything like that,. I have seen nappy headed whites, hispanics, ect. Hos is also a term used in our mainstream music marketed to teens and a word used by BLACK rappers as a lyric. This is a big money making business too. I'm just not for being Politically correct ALL the time cause it might OFFEND someone, people should lighten up today evceryone is getting offended by something. It happens way too often, and it steifels OUR freedom of speach. Its time to lighten the fuck up. If someone went on the radio and said the word dike or even hoes was a good enough example, I wouldnt have went all apeshit over it, dont let it bother you. The media made it a bigger deal than it was because at first no one said a word about it, and then all of a sudden he is fired. Bullshit. I dont even listen to Don Imus, so Im not defending him cause I am a fan or something. I am defending the fact that America is a place where free speach and other freedoms should be allowed and not cost someone there job. America is entirely too soft. Sorry for the spelling errors and double post, Im hyper and in a rush.

America is entirely too soft.
It's because we have become a nation of politically incorrect pussies. We are sue happy and easily offended. Basically I agree with what you said.

We have troops dying for our free speach and people get mad over that. Am i wrong it seems as if the 3 of us are the only ones who get that, we have lost millions of respected americans to beable to speak as we want, americans need to tighten up as Rated X said.

Ok, you guys might find me weird. I'm a black girl, I support what Don Imus said. Because it was the truth, my race it furthers (black women), we do intend to be hos. Then Rap does play a part in it too, you have rappers be rapping to cruel words especially about women. You might also find me weird again; I don't like Rap Music. I like Dance Music, big fan of it !!!
The only time, I like Rap Music is: Like old Rap Music. I like the Rap songs on Grand Theft Auto San Anderas. I just have one Rapper, I like. His name is Dizzee Rascal, he's the only Rapper that intend to listen to.

Thanks, your my guy lol. :D
Also, Don Imus: when he said that about my race. It didn't bother me, I didn't boo-hoo like a baby, said why why and crying. Shit be worrying about other things, I go by daily life. I didn't even care about him, when he said that about my race. It doesn't hurt me, actually its not nothing to me.
I think the problem is, when people hear things, they will jump into conclusions, making a huge problem. The girls from the college, look like they can be hos, probably did things in the past, but they not going to tell the whole world, they hos. If people just the shut up, and take it. Then wouldn't be in this big shit crap. Don Imus is a good man, he did things for black people, I think he helped out this black boy, who had cancer in his eye. I think that was very sweet of him, also did very good things in the past.
I think he should work with Howard Stern, I was thinking maybe they should work together. I think that would be good !!!

Yeah, Howard Stern does suck. I'm not a fan of his, just thought maybe him and Imus might get together. They like the same in a way, it furthers with their shows.

I just have one question to ask all of you, why is it that Don Imus got fired for one stupid comment, while actual hate mongers like Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, and Michelle Malkin get off scoot free? These people have much wider audiences then Don Imus does and every week they say the most hateful things that you could possibly imagine, why is there so much outrage about a stupid comment by a really old guy when these three say whatever they want and never apalogize to the people that they have offended or hurt? Does anyone know why that is?
malcom farrakahn & jesse jackass i mean jesse jackson & al sharpton said worse things about whites & jews (but) i guess thats o.k.... NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! if your white & say stupied shit then look out you'll loose everything (but) if your black thats o.k. whats wrong is wrong!!!!
