Even when Mickie James played the role of a psychotic Trish Stratus groupie, doing her best to draw the ire of wrestling fans, she couldn't make all the fans hate her.
Says James: "It was quite neat ... in the middle of a match, the fans would be yelling: 'Let's go Mickie.' Then they'd yell: 'Let's go Trish.' Even though I was the bad (girl), fans were taking to me."
So now that she has gone from devilish to divalicious?
"I'm still psychotic. I'm still a bit of a loose cannon."
James says women's wrestling has changed over the years.
"When I grew up watching women's wrestling, everybody was unique. All the girls now are so beautiful," says James, who twice has been WWE's women's champ. "(Years ago), maybe they weren't all drop-dead gorgeous, but they were unique. They weren't so cookie cutter."
On James' side is the fact that she has good wrestling skills, plus she has the looks -- perhaps enough for an appearance in Playboy?
"Trish never did it ... Lita never did it. I think it's a coin toss (whether I pose)," she says.
James, who spent time wrestling as Alexis Laree, says she has come a long way since then.
"I've been wrestling for eight years now and I'm a lot smarter and less naive," she says. "I like to go out and wrestle ... just wrestle. That's what I much prefer over doing the bra and panties matches." She also is engaged to wrestler Kenny Dykstra (Ken Doane).
