Angry AEW Dynamite Live Coverage - October 30th, 2024

    AEW Dynamite

This week, in a highly anticipated matchup, Swerve Strickland battles Shelton Benjamin. Private Party challenges for the Young Bucks’ AEW World Tag Team Titles and must split up if they lose. Powerhouses collide as Kris Statlander battles Kamille. Plus, Adam Cole returns to the ring for the first time in over a year to take on House of Black’s Buddy Matthews.

    – A special pay-per-view cold open style intro, complete with a deep voiced narrator, kicks things off. We then shoot backstage to footage of Jon Moxley and his white t-shirt crew running through the halls while footage is shown of the recent carnage they have caused.

    – Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard greet audiences at home as Orange Cassidy makes his way down to the ring.

    – We hear a loud voice yelling, "No! No...turn it off!" The camera shot changes to our first live look inside the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, OH., where Orange Cassidy walks down to the ring with a microphone in-hand.

Cassidy says this is not what he does. He says he's not the type to come out and talk for ten minutes about how he is a leader. The arena is so scary quiet, with total focus on the usually reserved and quiet Cassidy, it's scary. Fright Night, baby!

He talks about how dangerous Jon Moxley is and watching his best friend Chuck Taylor get his neck crushed with a steel chair. He says if Moxley destroys AEW, he doesn't care. He doesn't need AEW. He's never needed AEW. Cassidy says he needs AEW. Without it, there's no me. There's no us. There's none of this.

The "Freshly Squeezed" one vows to make sure no one else gets hurt like that again. How? Like this. He challenges Mox to a match for the AEW World Championship. He says he'll take it out of his bag and put it in his back pack.

He says he's not hard to find and will be waiting for his answer. "Because I'm Orange Cassidy, [puts sunglasses back on], and I'm the next AEW World Champion ...and I still don't need a catchphrase."

    – Backstage, Kamille, with Mercedes Mone, is interviewed ahead of her match later tonight against Kris Statlander. Back inside the arena, for the first time in a year, Adam Cole (...BAY-BAY) makes his way to the ring for a wrestling match. Cole kicks things off in the ring with this week's opening contest.

    Adam Cole vs. Buddy Matthews

The bell rings and the two shake hands with one another. They then lock up and go back and forth, but Matthews levels Cole with a shoulder tackle. Cole gets knocked to the outside and takes a moment to recover as we see Kyle O'Reilly watching the action from backstage. Matthews then levels Cole with a kick to his chest off the apron.

Back from the break, Matthews delivers a superplex to Colle off the top. Cole responds with a shoulderbreaker to Matthews, and the two exchange forearms with one another on the apron. Cole connects with a DDT on Matthews on the apron, but Matthews continues wearing down Cole's injured ankle in the ring and stomps on it on the ring steps.

A medical official helps Cole to the back after he deems him too unfit to compete, but Matthews calls him out and Cole gets back in the ring. The two continue to brawl, but Cole fires off a series of superkicks on Cole. Matthews responds with a Curb Stomp and pins Cole, but Cole kicks out and lands another superkick on Matthews. He follows it up with a thrust kick to his midsection and a Shining Wizard, then goes for a pin but Matthews kicks out.

Matthews powerbombs Cole into the corner and connects with a Curb Stomp, then goes for a pin. Cole quickly kicks out as we see MJF watching the action on a television elsewhere, then lands the Panama Sunrise on Matthews and follows it up with a second one to Matthews off the apron and on the outside. He gets Matthews back in the ring and delivers a second Shining Wizard for the win.

    Winner: Adam Cole

    – From there, we shoot backstage, where Renee Paquette is standing by with Private Party and Interim EVP Christopher Daniels. They talk about their high stakes tag-team title tilt later in the show, where if they don't win, they have to break up their team.

    – We head to a break. When we return, Adam Cole is shown having his leg checked in the back with The Undisputed Kingdom. He sends a message to MJF and tells him after tonight, it's one down and two to go before he gets his hands on him again.

    – Back inside the arena, Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis come out. Fletcher calls out Will Ospreay, but no one shows up. Eventually, as he continues talking, the Aussie Open theme hits to cut him off. His partner Mark Davis makes his long-awaited return.

Davis and Fletcher exchange words about what Fletcher has become and how he broke up United Empire and ended a friendship with someone they considered a brother. Fletcher tells Davis he made sure to have a spot for him in the [Don Callis] Family.

Davis isn't interested. Fletcher tells him he's proven he has no problem cutting ties with the past and warns him that soon he'll have to make a tough decision.

    – From there, we shoot backstage where Renee Paquette is with Hangman Page. He reacts to the announced match at AEW Full Gear 2024 between himself and Jay White. We then see Jon Moxley and his white t-shirt crew walking the halls as we head into another break.

    – When we return, we see hear the familiar sounds of Jon Moxley's new theme music. Out he comes with Marina Shafir by his side. They walk to a stairwell where Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and PAC stand up and join them. The crew heads to the ring.

Mox talks about Orange Cassidy challenging him. He says he thinks he challenged him, but it was Mox who challenged Cassidy when he broke his friends neck last week. He did it to get distractions away from him so he can focus on his goals. No one realizes what Mox is doing yet, but one day they will.

When he continues to talk, he threatens to hurt someone, like Cassidy said he would not let happen. He grabs his own guy, Yuta, and they threaten to break his neck with the chair wrapped around his head. This brings out Cassidy, and the fight is on. They beat Cassidy down until Darby Allin is lowered from the rafters by a cable like Sting in WCW.

Others come out like Daniel Garcia and Private Party, and in the chaos, The Young Bucks' theme hits. The brawl clears away and Private Party remains in the ring as the Bucks settle inside. Their high stakes title versus team bout is apparently going down now.

AEW Tag-Team Championships: The Young Bucks (c) vs. Private Party

Nicholas Jackson and Isiah Kassidy begin the action. The bell rings and the two lock up. Matthew Jackson tags in and The Bucks double team on Kassidy. Kassidy takes down Matthew and Nicholas, and Marq Quen follows it up with a double hurricanrana. Kassidy then uses Quen as a launch pad to fly over the top and level The Bucks on the outside.

Kassidy runs the ropes, but Matthew trips him and sends Kassidy crashing into the ring apron face first. Matthew looks to hit Kassidy with the ring bell, but Quen grabs it from him and looks to hit Matthew with it. He accidentally hits Kassidy, opening the door for Matthew to take him down. Matthew then sends Kassidy's face repeatedly bouncing off the ring steps and Nicholas looks to land an enzuigiri on him back in the ring, but accidentally hits Matthew. Nicholas then delivers a Michinoku Driver to Kassidy off the ring steps, and Matthew lands a superplex on Quen.

Back from the break, Kassidy tags in and fires off right and left hands on Matthew. Private Party levels The Bucks with superkicks, then ascends up the ropes and deliver 450 Splashes to The Bucks. They go for a double pin, but The Bucks kick out. The Bucks respond with a TK Driver to Kassidy and go for a pin, but Kassidy kicks out.

Quen delivers a tope suicida that sends Nicholas crashing over the announce desk, then flies over the top rope to level Kassidy. The Bucks drag Quen up the ramp and Kazuchika Okada appears. He lands a tombstone to Quen on the top of the ramp, opening the door for Matthew to powerbomb Kassidy into the corner and Nicholas to deliver an enzuigiri. Nicholas then delivers a hurricanrana as Matthew connects with a cutter, and The Bucks fire off alternating superkicks on Kassidy. Nicholas goes for a pin, but Matthew kicks out.

The Bucks set up for the EVP Trigger, but Kassidy falls over. The Bucks get him back up and look to land the BTE Trigger, but Kassidy avoids it and rolls up Matthew. Matthew kicks out, and Nicholas lands an enzuigiri on him. The Bucks then deliver the EVP Trigger and go for a pin, but Kassidy kicks out. Nicholas lands a running knee on the back of Kassidy's neck, and Matthew follows it up with a One Winged Angel. He goes for a pin, but Quen breaks the fall.

The Bucks set up for the TK Driver, but Quen trips Nicholas and Kassidy delivers a reverse hurricanrana to Matthew. Private Party then delivers the Gin and Juice to Nicholas for the win.

Winners and NEW AEW World Tag-Team Champions: Private Party

    – After the match, The Bucks hand Private Party the AEW World Championship belts.

    – We then head over to Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith on the entrance ramp where Jericho gloats about dethroning Mark Briscoe as Ring of Honor World Champion last week in their Ladder War and promises to take Ring of Honor to the next level.

    – We then head backstage, were Daniel Garcia confronts Jack Perry outside of The Elite's dressing room. Perry then enters The Elite's dressing room, where The Bucks are packing up their things.

    – Back at ringside, Kamille and Mercedes Mone then make their way down. Kris Statlander follows.

    Kamille vs. Kris Statlander

The bell rings and the two lock up. Kamille levels Statlande with a shoulder tackle, but Statlander quickly gets back up. Kamille then repeatedly sends her face bouncing off the mat.

Back from the break, Statlander sends Kamille crashing into the mat with an F5 and goes for a pin. Kamille kicks out and levels Statlander with a modified Famouser, then gets her up on her shoulders and sends her cashing into the mat with a Fireman's Carry style sit-out powerbomb. She goes for a pin, but Statlander kicks out and connects with Saturday Night Fever for the win.

    Winner: Kris Statlander

    – After the match, Mone clocks Statlander from behind with the TBS Championship and demands that Kamille head to the back as she stands tall over Statlander.

    – Back from the break, we see The Bucks get into a car and leave the arena as Christopher Daniels chases after them and tells him that AEW needs them while Brandon Cutler chases after them with their shoes. Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir, PAC, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli then attack Daniels and injure Cutler's hand.

    – Back at ringside, Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana make their way out. Shelton Benjamin and MVP follow.

    Swerve Strickland vs. Shelton Benjamin

The bell rings and the two stare each other down. They go back and forth, but Benjamin dumps Strickland out of the ring and looks to send him crashing into the ring post. Strickland escapes and wears down Benjamin's arm using the ring post for extra leverage. He looks to land a kick off the apron, but Benjamin trips him and sends him crashing into one of the barricades and the ring apron. Benjamin delivers a high back body drop to Strickland back in the ring, but Strickland dials it up for a 619 to Benjamin's midsection. Benjamin then sends Strickland crashing out of the ring.

Back from the break, Benjamin delivers a German suplex to Strickland. Strickland responds with a roundhouse kick to Benjamin's head, then lands a back elbow off the middle rope and follows it up with a boot to him off the apron. Strickland looks to land a jumping Codebreaker on Benjamin, but Benjamin catches him and levels him with a suplex. Benjamin responds with a series of kicks, but Strickland takes him down with the House Call and a 450 Splash. He goes for a pin, but Benjamin kicks out.

Benjamin connects with a German suplex on Strickland and lands a running kick on him in the corner, but Strickland responds with a jumping Codebreaker. Benjamin ascends up the ropes, but Strickland pulls him off with a powerbomb and follows it up with the Swerve Stomp for the win.

    Winner: Swerve Strickland

    – After the match, MVP calls someone on his phone. The lights go out momentarily and music starts playing. A debuting Bobby Lashley makes his way out and hugs MVP, then stares down Strickland and runs him over with a clothesline as MVP attacks Nana with his kane. Benjamin and Lashley fire off stomps on Strickland, and Lashely takes down Strickland with a chokeslam. Security runs out to the ring, but The Hurt Syndicate takes several of them down. MVP grabs a mic and asks fans to guess who's back in business. The Hurt Syndicate then stands tall as the show goes off the air.
