The 'Immortal' Hulk Hogan is pleased to pass down his signature Axe Bomber to Shinichiro Kawamatsu who is free to use the move going forward.
At a DDT Pro Wrestling event, Kawamatsu won his match with the Axe Bomber, a stiff clothesline that Hogan used as his signature weapon during his career in Japan. Kawamatsu revealed in a backstage comment that he learned the move directly from Hogan. In a video shared by DDT Pro, Hogan makes clear that Kawamatsu is the number one user of the Axe Bomber move going forward.
”My number one disciple, Kawamatsu, will inherit the Axe Bomber! What will you guys do if the new “Number One” Axe Bomber goes out of control, brothers!”
At 70 years old and over a decade removed from his most recent wrestling match, odds are Hogan's days of using the Axe Bomber, or any wrestling move for that matter, are behind him. While the two-time WWE Hall of Famer is best known for his work in the west, the fact that his Axe Bomber move carries great significance to this day shows the breadth of his work during his days in Japan.
As for Kawamatsu, the future remains bright for the 43-year-old after receiving the blessing of one of the biggest stars in wrestling, if not the biggest. Kawamatsu recently competed for the KO-D Ten Man Tag Team Championships but his quintet failed to win the gold. Nevertheless, Kawamatsu appears poised to take DDT Pro Wrestling by storm, especially with the Axe Bomber in his arsenal.
