Angry WWE RAW Live Coverage - September 23rd, 2024

Jey Uso challenges Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Title

The Intercontinental Championship will be on the line when Bron Breakker defends his title against “Main Event” Jey Uso. Since dethroning Sami Zayn at SummerSlam, Breakker has enjoyed an impressive reign, highlighted by his hard-earned title retention against Zayn in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match on Raw. Uso, meanwhile, won a Fatal 4-Way Match against Ilja Dragunov, Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed on the Sept. 9 episode of Raw, solidifying his spot as the No. 1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title. Can Uso capture his first singles championship, or will the dogs be barking for the champion?

    – We are live! Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore greet audiences at home as we see several Superstars arrive at the Toyota Arena. As Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio pull up, we see Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman brawl with one another at a merchandise stand before the former pair make their way down to the ring.

Morgan mocks fans and says the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour is going exactly as planned. She then throws it to a video of Judgment Day attacking Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley after Priest defeated Dominik last week, then says she's kept her promise of taking everything from Ripley including the Women's World Championship, Judgment Day, and Dominik.

Ripley's music hits and she makes her way out. She tells Morgan to quiet down and says that she's not planning on attacking her tonight as she has something to tell Morgan. Dominik stands between Ripley and Morgan, and Ripley asks him what he's going to do. Morgan intervenes and mocks Ripley by telling her that Dominik might've stayed with her if she didn't care so much about Priest. She continues mocking Ripley by guessing that she's about to tell her that she isn't cleared to challenge her for the Women's World Championship at Bad Blood, and says she'll beat her because she's smarter than her.

Ripley informs Morgan that she's been fully cleared for Bad Blood, then tells both Morgan and Dominik that Adam Pearce has made it official that Dominik will be in a Shark Cage on October 5. Ripley tells Morgan that she'll win back the Women's World Championship with no one to help her, and says she takes back what she said before, then headbutts Morgan and heads to the back.

    – Sami Zayn then makes his way down to the ring. Ludwig Kaiser follows.

    Sami Zayn vs. Ludwig Kaiser

Kaiser shoves Zayn, and the bell sounds. Zayn tosses his sweater to Kaiser in response to his shove, and the two lock up. Kaiser fires off right hands on Zayn in the corner, but Zayn responds with several of his own and fires off stomps on Kaiser in the corner. Kaiser sends Zayn crashing into the corner, then sends him crashing into the ring steps and dumps him back inside the ring.

Kaiser sends Zayn crashing into the ring post shoulder first, then drapes him by his knees and lands a dropkick on his chest. He charges at Zayn, but Zayn catches him with a back elbow and connects with a double ax handle off the top rope. Zayn then clotheslines Kaiser out of the ring and lands a chop on his chest, but Kaiser sends him crashing into a chair over the timekeeper's area.

Back from the break, Kaiser sits Zayn on the top rope and looks to deliver a superplex to him. Zayn avoids it and rains down strikes on Kaiser, then connects with a Sunset Flip powerbomb on him and goes for a pin. Kaiser kicks out, and Zayn delivers an Exploder to him. He sets up for the Helluva Kick, but Kaiser rolls out of the ring before he can hit it.

Kaiser sends Zayn crashing into the ring steps and dropkicks him into them, then slides back into the ring as the referee begins a ten count. Zayn beats it, and Kaiser rains down right hands on him. Zayn returns the favor, then connects with a clothesline and looks to land a Blue Thunder Bomb. Kaiser avoids it and rolls up Zayn, but the referee catches him with his feet on the ropes and stops the count. Kaiser gets in the referee's face, but turns around into an Exploder and sets up for the Helluva Kick. Kaiser sees Zayn coming and delivers a kick to him, then goes for a pin but Zayn kicks out. Kaiser looks to send Zayn crashing into the mat, but Zayn escapes and delivers a German suplex. He follows it up with a Helluva Kick for the win.

    – After the match, an angered GUNTHER makes his way down to the ring dressed in his ring gear. He says Zayn has been begging for a World Heavyweight Championship for weeks and he's seen enough, then says he thinks that Ontario, California is the right time for him to say no to a title match. GUNTHER laughs and heads to the back as Zayn dares him to enter the ring with him.

    – We then head backstage and see Xavier Woods in deep thought before Kofi Kingston approaches him looking to talk about what happened between them, LWO, and Judgment Day last week. Woods says there's no hard feelings, and Kingston says he wants to smooth things over before New Day's tenth anniversary in November. Kingston shows off the Booty-O's cereal boxes and Francesca the Trombone, and Woods tells Kingston that he thinks they should look ahead to winning tag team gold. Kingston agrees and says Woods should be calling the shots before American Made interrupt and a verbal confrontation ensues between the two parties.

    – Back from the break, we head over and see a verbal confrontation between JD McDonagh and Ilja Dragunov as Carlito and Dominik Mysterio stand by.

Cruz Del Toro gets in McDonagh's face, but McDonagh sends him crashing into the ring post as Dominik levels Joaquin Wilde. Rey Mysterio appears out of nowhere and hits a senton on the barricade off Dominik, opening the door for Lee to hit a spinning Sidewalk Slam on Carlito for the win.

    Winner: Dragon Lee

    – Backstage The Miz is warming up and Karrion Kross comes by to check on him and says he hates that no one respects him anymore. Miz says he has a match against a monster and Kross reminds him monsters come in all sizes. Miz agrees and leaves and Kross stays back and smirks.

    – We come back from commercial break and head backstage with Kathy Kelly and Sheamus. She asks if he's done with Pete Dunne. Sheamus says everyone says "call him Butch" and after what he did he has a score to settle with Dunne and there's nothing more dangerous than an Irish man who has a score to settle.

    Braun Strowman vs. The Miz

Before the bell can even sound, Braun Strowman attacks Reed on the ramp and begins brawling with Red. Miz gets in Strowman's face for attacking Reed, but Reed takes them both down with a tope suicida. Reed levels two security guards with a Tsunami and Strowman hits a double chokeslam on two more of them. More security guards runs down to the ring, but Reed and Strwoman take them down and level each other with a clothesline. Reed ascends to the top, but Strowman catches him with a right hand. Security pulls the two men apart, but Strowman kicks Reed out of the ring and takes down several more security guards. He lands a bodyslam on two of them and a powerslam on a third one, then ascends to the top. Reed retreats up the ramp.

He says this will be the end for one of them, because Punk meant every word last week. He says he's ready to sacrifice this all for this to end. He says he usually keeps personal stuff to himself but he'll put it out there. He doesn't want to be inside Hell in a Cell as he has in the past. Punks wife and sisters begged him not to do this match, and his family has begged him not to as well as this has gone too far. He says his wife has asked him to stay away from Punk as she sees what this is doing to him mentally. The crowd erupts in a CM Punk chant. McIntyre says this match will happen and he promises he'll make Punk bleed a lot and he will make Punk suffer and feel pain he's never felt. He says this is good -vs- evil and Punk compares himself to the devil, but Punk is just a man McIntyre has broken in the past and McIntyre says he will break Punk permanently.

    – Jackie Redmond is backstage with Adam Pearce. They discuss Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman and Pearce says next week they will have a Last Monster Standing Match. Behind them, Pete Dunne is choking out Sheamus with a cricket bat. Pearce breaks it up and calls for medical for Sheamus.
