Angry Details On Why AJ Styles Is Using The Calf Crusher Instead Of The Styles Clash

There had reportedly been talk within WWE about whether AJ Styles would be allowed to use his Styles Clash finisher or not. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Vince McMahon found out about Yoshitatsu suffering a broken neck from the move and was concerned. As a result, the company decided the calf crusher would be AJ Styles’ new finisher.

Up until his Fastlane match with Chris Jericho, Styles had only used the Styles Clash once before, against Curtis Axel. According to The Observer, Jericho wanted the move in his match and the spot was approved by management.

It should be noted that the Styles Clash is not banned, but it won’t be AJ’s primary finisher.

Who said the styles clash was banned?

I think the idea of a finishing move in a "combat sport" is kind of dumb.

I knew the answer before I clicked the post. No big surprise, as WWE bans everything that has anything to do with wrestling...

The Styles Clash is no more dangerous than Trips' Pedigree

Well...no. With Styles Clash, if the other guy doesn't pull his head up in time, then he lands squarely on his head like Yoshi Tatsu. Most of the time with the Pedigree, the guys head never hits the mat, but the camera angle and Trips thighs make it seem like he did. A piledriver is more dangerous.

^^ I've seen enough of bothced Pedigree's. But I guess he is allowed, since he is Vince's son in law

    None better than this:

But, he doesn't do it anywhere close to what he used to. So, I'm still not buying it.

^^ I know. Poor Marty Garner...

Still, one of the main reasons he's not using it is probably because it looks greater than The Pedigree. A reason why CM Punk was not allowed to do The Pepsi Plunge, or Matt Sydal not being allowed to use The Shooting Star Press etc.

It might be dangerous, but it's a dangerous business they work in....
