Tuesday’s edition of WWE SmackDown Live from Norfolk, Virginia at the Norfolk Scope Arena averaged 2.130 million viewers, which is up from 2.088 million the previous week, according to ShowbuzzDaily.
The same SmackDown episode last year drew 2.319 million viewers.
The episode was expected to drop in viewership due to the competition that it faced and still being another week before the go-home show for the Clash of Champions pay-per-view event.
The show had to go up against Hannity that did 3.140 million viewers, Rachel Maddow Show with 2.544 and Tucker Carlson Tonight that drew 3.100.
The biggest sports competition came in the way of the US Open in tennis on ESPN that drew 2.241 million viewers.
Matches that took place on this show include Elias vs. Ali and Chad Gable vs. Andrade (w/Zelina Vega) quarter-finals King of the Ring tournament matches. Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross, Aleister Black vs. Shelton Benjamin, and United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura (w/Sami Zayn) vs. Andrew Howard
Also, it featured the continuation of Roman Reigns’ mystery attacker storyline.
WWE will attempt to increase viewership with next week’s episode, which should be interesting to see what number it pulls in.
