After working with Seth MacFarlane on his upcoming Universal comedy "A Million Ways to Die in the West," Amanda Seyfried has signed on to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in MacFarlane's sequel "Ted 2," an individual familiar with the MRC project has told TheWrap.
MRC is producing and financing the sequel, which is expected to be released by Universal Pictures, the distributor of the first film.
Seyfried's casting begs the question of what will become of Mila Kunis, who played Wahlberg's love interest in the original movie. Kunis is expected to have a small role in the sequel, according to a studio insider, though Seyfried will play the female lead.
Universal is already invested in Seyfried, who will star opposite Rebel Wilson in the studio's comedy "He's F-ing Perfect." She also starred in Universal's hit musical "Les Miserables." The studio will release "A Million Ways to Die in the West" on May 30.
Seyfried recently wrapped Noah Baumbach's "While We're Young" and will next shoot "Fathers and Daughters" with Russell Crowe and Aaron Paul. She's represented by Innovative Artists and attorney Michael Williams.
