WWE star Sheamus had once considered leaving WWE after being disappointed with the Draft.
WWE Draft is usually an exciting time as the roster is shuffled to freshen up the brands. This year's edition is right around the corner and the WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H stated that this year it will be bigger, and everyone will be eligible. He also said that it will “change the game.”
However, it was during the WWE Draft in 2015 that Sheamus almost left the company. The former WWE Champion was chosen by Raw as the 30th overall pick, meaning he was the last person selected on television. A further 29 superstars were also drafted, but their brand destinations were revealed on the WWE Network instead of the live Raw show.
Sheamus sheds light on the matter
During a WWE 24 documentary about WrestleMania 37 in 2021, Sheamus said he almost quit WWE during the 2015 WWE Draft. This was a difficult time in his career, and the Celtic Warrior almost had enough.
“The draft came and I had just been WWE Champion up until the end of December [2015]. And I was the last pick on the [televised] draft. I’m thinking to myself like, ‘How have I gone from ‘The Guy’ to the last pick of the draft?’ I was like, ‘This is a serious fall from grace.’ I was so angry, man, I was ready… I kind of felt like ready to walk [out]. I really did. I felt like, ‘What am I doing? I’m not enjoying this anymore.'”
Reports stated that WWE superstars are kept in the dark about the upcoming Draft plans. The roster changes will begin on the April 28 edition of SmackDown, a few days prior to the Backlash Premium Live Event, and will also pan out on the May 1 episode of Monday Night Raw.
Sheamus is currently leading the Brawling Brutes which comprises Butch and Ridge Holland. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for the faction during the WWE Draft.
